I'll be the first to admit that having a woman president will be nice for the country, but it seems like she's running on that alone and that somehow you should vote for her JUST cause she's a woman. It's really silly. We don't have to be reminded that's she's a woman, over and over and over.

2. Well, whle I don't support Clinton, I am equally tired of the race card being used for Barack!
But I am told this is unavoidable seeing as she is a woman and Barack is black.Still, I have no idea what either of those qualities should have to do with presidential qualifications.Neither are enough for my vote!

6. Obama doesn't talk about his race at all
I can't help it if supporters on DU do. I would be equally offended if Barack said vote for him cause he's black and it'll be a great thing for the country.

3. First of all, I am not voting for Hilary
but I think that unless she is judged on the same level as the males candidates (her voice is too shrill, she does not look good in whatever outfit she is wearing, she has no sense of humor, etc.) then she is entitled to play the gender card.

8. Amen.
That "likeability" question was bullshit. No man would ever be asked such a thing.

7. I'm not a Clinton supporter but I don't see her pulling the gender card that much
Once in a while she does, but hey, why not? You gotta use whatever advantage you have and gawd knows rich white males have had an unfair leg up since time immemorial. She mentioned her gender one time during the debate and it got applause. Very wisely played, IMO.

9. I'm more tired of it being used by the Hillbots on this board.
My first vote in a general election was for a ticket with a female Vice President. I live in a state with a female governor and 2 female senators. I voted for all three, and might vote for at least two of them again. I don't appreciate being branded a "sexist pig" because I refuse to support a warmongering corporatist.

And aside from the "I am Woman, hear me roar!" crowd, I think most of the country is getting tired of it too. Electing a woman simply because she is a woman is not progress or 'change', and the same goes for electing a woman because of her husband's accomplishments.

16. No more than Obama using empty words like "hope" and "change".
I was watching some show the other night that had to do with various elections down through the years and I was quietly amazed at how often every candidate was the candidate of "change". I'm really getting sick of that word. I want to hear something that means something and see a track record of some kind that doesn't make me think we could get a Democratic version of Bush who can speak well. I'm going through a bad spell of noticing way too much arrogance in Obama and hopefully that will change. I know a Iowa caucus goer who said that when their candidate didn't have the required 15%, Obama's people didn't want to waste their time on them. I know when youth sense that they are getting a little power that they can get carried away. Doesn't mean that they can't be reigned in. But, I saw too many arrogant young die hard Bush believers in Broward and Miami in 2000 and I don't want to see that attitude in any candidate or their followers ever again. Even if they are Democrats. I didn't see this with Kerry/Edwards in 2004. Again, hopefully, I'm seeing something that isn't really there.

My guy dropped out. Biden. A great smile, talks extremely well and would have been a great President. I never, ever said disparaging things about another candidate until this comment about Obama. I noticed this about him a few months after he became a U.S. Senator and at the time I never dreamed he would jump into the race. So, it's not entirely to do with his run for the presidency. Again, I hope I'm just seeing tons of confidence. I sure hope his supporters don't get too carried away, if you know what I mean. Legit differences between candidates should be fair game, but we know Obama will make history and I say BRAVO to that if he gets the nomination and the Presidency, and the same with Hillary. There is no reason that anyone should be upset if they bring this to the peoples attention now and then.

I believe that criticizing hillary shouldn't be seen as sexist. screaming "omg sexist" anytime someone says something bad about her does us no good.

19. Um, if we are the sum of our experiences, then being a woman would be
part of that experience. and the knowledge and wisdom that experience gives you is not necessarily a card, but a different perspective. that different perspective may just get us out of the hole we are in. It's just a thought.

It's such a cynical ploy, and very revealing. Hillary's very aware of the spot in history she's going after.

27. YES!!!!
She even brought it up in the debate tonight.

Next thing you know, she'll pull a Britney Spears on us, and appear in public with no underwear, just to remind us that she's the only woman running for president, that she'll be the first woman president, yadda-yadda-yadda.
