Chris Matthews called Obama a "Third-world" person. AGAIN.
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 10:59 AM by IanDB1
On December 3rd:

Matthews described Obama as "almost Third World in his sort of presentation

"Appearing on the December 3 edition of NBC's Today to discuss presidential politics, MSNBC host Chris Matthews said of Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL): "e's so fresh-faced, so brand-new, almost Third World in his sort of presentation. He doesn't click as a usual politician."

And again right after the Iowa caucuses, called Obama a sort of "third-world" person (I haven't seen anyone reference this yet).

And then the next day, on Morning Hoe, Tweety made another "third-world" reference:

From the January 3 edition of MSNBC's Morning Joe:

Because I think the idea of a guy who has a Kenyan father, at a time when Kenya is in such turmoil, a man with a real third-world background -- and I mean that very positively, because this brings us back into the world.

Also:

“The biggest American political story in modern times if Obama wins the Iowa caucuses. It’ll be all over the world, it will sweep the headlines of every newspaper in the world, friend, foe or neutral. It will be the Third World story of the century, the last century, the biggest story of modern Third World history really, if Obama wins the American presidential caucus in Iowa.”

3. Get the hook. Get that idiot off the stage.
Obama's father was Kenyan; that makes him "Third World"? This is bizarre on so many levels.

13. If he does feel like he needs a shower, I'll take it with him.

But seriously, Tweety is just obsessed with this idea that Obama is a "Third World candidate." I keep wanting to slap him and tell him that it doesn't matter whether his father was from Kenya or he spent time in Indonesia himself--Obama is American native born, otherwise he couldn't be eligible to become president! Duh! And to make such hay over these details of his life and call him "Third World" is not only very patronizing to people in that part of the world but it's way exaggerating. It would be like if my father was running for president and Tweety said "Oh, this is a big story! A son of Italy might become president! Wow!!!!" (My father's parents were Italian, but he was born and raised in the USA.)

It's really not that relevant, except in the sense that Obama does have a view of how life is lived outside the United States. But does that make him a "son of Kenya" or "Third World story"? I really don't think so.

8. Tweety and his panel are trying to will Obama our Candidate
Their dream is a Race between Obama and McCain. Who do you think
Chris will be backing in this race????

Did you hear the reporter(Katy??) The Gop cannot attack Obama.
I have a bridge to sell them.

Someone saying Obama and Bloomberg join. Bloomberg has no base
of Independents. Republicans put him office.

That program was in neverland this a.m.

This is third time I have heard people say. Obama cannot be attacked.
Would someone remind Chris and his panel--this is supposed to be a
Democracy.

9. We were also told the GOP couldn't attack Kerry's war record
How did that one turn out? We know those pricks are going to attack whoever we put up. We need to stop worrying about that and plan to slime the living shit out of their candidate.

12. i don't see that as a knock
I think he's just saying that Obama see's the world from the perspective of someone who's not in the America/Europe axis. In the context of what we need to do in the world, it's actually a compliment.

14. But he makes such a huge honking deal out of it, without elaborating on it.
He never says "Here's a guy who knows the United States is not the world." Instead he just keeps saying "Wow, a son of Kenya, wow, a guy who has lived in the THIRD WORLD!" without saying anything about what it might mean or what perspective it might impart.

He also really stretches it, implies that he sees all this from the point of view of the Ignorant White Guy. Makes it sound as if Obama grew up running around half-naked in a loincloth, living in a grass hut with a bone stuck in his hair. "Wow, isn't it incredible that a guy like THAT might become president! What a story!!"

16. I keep waiting for Tweety to be named "Worst Person in the World"
by KO but guess the GE boardroom would have a fit if he did. The Tweetmeister gives Keith daily fodder and I just know KO has humongous sores from biting his tongue every night during the "Worst Person" segment! I'm guessing there is such a thing as professional courtesy at MSNBC to not slam the reich-wing tools on the payroll. F*cker Bowtie Boy, Tweety and Dead Intern Scarborough get a free pass but I sure wish the gloves would come off and Keith hit them all right between the eyes for all the crap they shovel each day.

A girl can dream...

Cafferty could name Tweety, Intern Killer Joe or Fucker Carlson his Worst Person In The World every single day.
