Buchanan just said "I know what's coming Eleanor" about Obama
I'm watching McLaughlin. Eleanor Clift said that "there will still be a gut check with Obama, and don't write Hillary off yet." Buchanan said coyly that "I know what's coming Eleanor" with a sly grin. What was that all about?

It has been completely ignored by the media, and before you flame me, read Obama's book. I don't think America is ready for someone who used coke on a regular basis.

55. Not only are Bushies better at covering it up
They deny that it ever happened. 100% or Republicans and probably over 50% of Democrats don't believe it did. They figure it's just a "lie" promulgated by us Bush-haters. Since the media will not investigate, and neither Gore nor Bush were willing to bring it up, they remain in denial.

Obama otoh admits he used. Most people will probably give him points for being honest, but even if they "forgive" him, they won't necessarily vote for him for president. If anything, it'll give 'em "a pass" for their latent racism: "Hey, I'm not against him because he's black; it's because he used to be a druggie."

27. I think the thing with Bush
Is his drug use didn't come out till the second race, and he denied it. Now we all know how republicans are. The bought into all of Bush's lies, and the bought into this one. That along with the "fear" tactics they used, and questionable voting machines, got him elected. Obama has admitted it, and I am willing to bet that the repugs have a lot of stuff on "all" of the dem candidates.

I think they still want Clinton because they can rally their base with her running, so they may come out with something to help her.

Among democrats trashing Hillary is first priority. Why criticize Obama's drug use when you can criticize Hillary for laughing too loudly. Presented by the republicans in the general, Obama's youthful indescretions will be blasted so loudly that it'll take Britney out of the news.

I won't say Bush was elected twice. Let's say they voted for him in masses twice because they liked him...more than Gore and more than Kerry. And his past was history, not big deal. I'm fine with Obama winning the nom but I hope it isn't because we like him. We need more than "like" and his drug use needs to be dealt with my him in an honest way.

39. Totally Disagree...
I think a big majority of this country has tried drugs.. and Obama did it when he was a teenager. He gets the "exempt" card because he did something no other candidate has done regarding this...

HE WAS HONEST ABOUT IT! It's hard to trash someone, when they've already talked about the trash themselves.. it just makes you look caddy.

Obama is very smart about this.. he throws out all skeletons before anyone else can do it for him.. and probably actually got some positive bounce for actually being "honest & transparent". Not your typical politician indeed!

He came from a humble background exactly like mine. I was born 15 miles from where he was born. The Republicans are breaking the backbone of the country and the Democrats must come to it's aid or another break away party will take over. The Whigs and the Torries, Democrats and Republicans, everything changes and evolves. :dem:

44. Exactly, he isn't going anywhere.
He's about to finish third in NH after McCain and Romney, his tax plan is insane (unless you think people in the US will agree with a 23% Fed tax tacked onto whatever state taxes already exist), and letting murderers out of jail tends to go over like a fire at an orphanage.

It's funny you keep saying "you wish" to people when it's beyond obvious based on your own statements of rooting for smears to work who is doing the wishing here. If you have a point beyond that try making it, because as it stands you have nothing except your own desire to see smears work against a Democrat, and that says volumes about you.

People want hope. People want change. People want a Democrat in office. We'll overlook things that may have shot candidates down in the past. We don't want politics as usual, and the usual politics of personal destruction won't cut it with us.

Now that Obama is seen as the one to beat as far as Democrats, the media will be looking for all kinds of things to "vet" him about. They're implying that he's still realtively unknown because of his fast rise to stardom and how the media hasn't taken the time to vet him YET. They're pretty much saying that what's good for the other candidates is good for Obama.

34. Every Republican I know backs Sen. Clinton. They can't wait to bring
back the good old days of Clinton-bashing. It is kinda like here in NC when all of the conservatives registered as Democrats (AKA "Jessecrats") and voted for Harvey Gantt, the black mayor of Charlotte, in the senatorial primary. Jesse Helms thought Gantt was the easiest to beat, so his folks set up Gantt. Guess what -- Jesse won.

That just won't get much traction, especially among Dems.

Whatever it is will be something that is not widely known, is more recent and will upset Dems as well as Indies and Pubbies.

I have no inside info, just too many years of watching Pattie and the Pubbies.
