Hillary will deport any illegal immigrants just for being accused
After expressing her thanks and sorrow, Clinton answered with the same five-point answer that virtually every advocate of "comprehensive immigration reform," including all the Democratic frontrunners gives: A litany of tough-sounding measures, followed by a riff on the sheer impracticality of mass deportation, the safety value of forcing immigrants to "register," and, quietly at the end, a plan for legalization.

The question was so raw, and the tough talk in Clinton's answer seemed particularly fierce, particularly on the point of deporting illegal immigrant criminals.

"If they commiteed a crime…we have to deport them immediately, no questions asked, no legal process," she said. "You put them on a plane to wherever they came from."

Hardcastle said Clinton had told her what she wanted to hear. She said she agreed that mass deportation would simply be too expensive, and that her focus was on deporting those who "do bad things."

1. Um, they are ILLEGAL to begin with and should NOT be here.
I have no idea where you live but here in Arizona we have a real problem with illegals and a very high crime rate.

4. The problem is that she thinks we should allow Illegal
Immigrants to stay...but that she will deport those who get accused of a crime. That is not fair. I can just see every repuke coming out of the woodwork to claim assult against every person they find that is illegal.

5. Nonetheless, that's not what he's saying.
He's saying Hillary will deport on accusation and she didn't say that according to the quote he gave.

8. Sheer bigotry
Studies have shown time and time again that illegal immigrants commit substantially fewer crimes than American citizens. So bug off with that crap you're shoveling.

16. What part of my post refuting your lies don't you understand?
Illegal immigrants commit fewer crimes than American citizens. You lied in support of your bigotry.

"The 2000 U.S. Census data of incarcerated males confirm that foreign-born people commit far fewer crimes per capita than U.S. citizens of every race and ethnicity. All told, U.S.-born people commit crimes at a rate that is approximately four times that of their foreign-born counterparts."

2. They have no right to be here in the first place
Do we hold a trial every time somebody is caught sneaking over the border?

12. Not the same thing at all.
If someone commits a crime in our country, we want to be the ones to try them because we have both the witnesses and the victims. Do you think a family that lost a mother to a rape murder wants to hear that the suspect was deported?

It's a tough talk quote, but it isn't complete enough.

17. I don't believe she's talking about deporting people who murder
before they are tried. She's talking about drunk drivers and people like that.

3. Where do you get that?
We can't say anyone has committed a crime until they've been proven guilty in a court of law.

Do you let the rightwing write all your talking points?

I agree a person must be proven guilty in a court of law.

13. Well, that's how we determine guilt. And a lawyer knows that.

6. mass deportation would simply be too expensive?
Not in the long run; we would save billions in health care, eduction law enforcement, welfare, lowering of wages, etc.

Your assuming the economy would be able to take
the missing 15 million workers that would be deported. Many Illegal Immigrants pay their taxes and are just as productive as average americans..so all that crap about them being a drain on public services is BS. But whatever...

9. I might not necessarily want them deported, depending on what they've done or where they're from
What if the illegal immigrant was from a Muslim theocracy and "honor" killed his wife or daughter? I'd want him charged here. He might be welcomed as a hero in his home country.

10. They are already in the US illegally...
so mere suspicion is reason enough to go ahead and send 'em home. Why waste the money trying them?

People who do really serious crimes, like murder, will be tried any way.

14. Um, no. You completely misread.
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 02:29 PM by Occam Bandage
What she means is this:

If someone is convicted of a crime, and if they are here illegally, they will be deported. There will not be a special deportation trial.

18. are you on drugs?
If they "committed" a crime, than that means they have been found guilty in a court of law.

where do you see Hillary saying they merely need to be accused of a crime?

21. They need to go home anyway
But of course the corps want slave labor, and people like you are helping them get it.

We also need to stop screwing around with the economies in places like Mexico, forcing them to come here.
