CNN: Obama gaining 3 points per day... up 10 points over Clinton now.
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 06:05 PM by K Gardner
just in from CNN. John Roberts and Bill Schneider reporting. Obama now has solid 10 pt lead over HRC.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) — With two days to go until the New Hampshire primary, a new CNN/WMUR poll out Sunday afternoon suggests that Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois has opened up a double digit advantage over New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

In the survey, conducted by the University of New Hampshire on Saturday and early Sunday, 39 percent of likely Granite State Democratic primary voters back Obama as the party’s nominee — that’s ten points ahead of Clinton’s 29 percent. Obama is up six points and Clinton down four points from our survey conducted on Friday and early Saturday.

Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina is at 16 percent in the new survey, down four points from Saturday. Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico is in fourth place, with the support of 7 percent of likely New Hampshire Democratic primary voters, with Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio at 2 percent.

“The poll strongly suggests an Obama surge in New Hampshire. Obama’s gaining about three points a day, at the expense of both Clinton and Edwards. Obama’s lead has now hit double digits (10 points) going into the home stretch. It’s ‘the Big Mo’!” says CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider. <snip>

26. This is why people marvel at America once in awhile. In our darkest moments something
this wonderful can rise above it all. People are rebelling against the fear of * and **. But its not an anti * and ** vote. Its a vote for a great person. They aren't running from something here, they are running to something. Its different.

12. He is not down statistically significantly in NH - if his "drop" was 4 points & the MOE 5 pts.
There isn't evidence that he has dropped if the change is less than the MOE -- keep an eye on the sampling error rate.

Nationally, Edwards is up substantially from 12/29 -- as a result of his Iowa performance.

8. But...but....don't they understand....NH is Hillary's FIREWALL!
And a neighboring state to boot. She used to be so far ahead in this state it was a given she would win.

If the Obama surge continues, and Hillary loses by double digits...Obama will be seen as all the more in control.

I am hoping that Edwards also has a rebound of sorts. Making him a clear second place, and Hillary a CLEAR third place. The only way for it to become a race between Edwards and Obama is for Hillary to tank. She seems, based on her performance at the debate, doing her best to help out in this regard.

18. Here's where I think Obama got his "Mo" Going.. not just from the Iowa win, but
from that speech afterward. People are still talking about that speech.. with Shock and Awe :-) That speech was not just accidentally thrown in there. That was damned good strategy and delivered like the master orator he is.

Congrats and well-deserved ! :yourock:

I'm still hoping John gets a bounce from the debate!! :bounce:

23. More than 250.000 people have watched that speech on youtube since yesterday alone
It's addicting.

He did make the most of that opportunity, to put it mildly.

21. I Think I'm Going To Puke
why this inevitability? Why can't we actually have a competitive primary rather than just everyone following Iowa's lead?

Obama was always my second choice after Edwards, but the main thing I wanted was a real primary, not just a few states deciding for everyone.

I want Clinton to win NH and I don't even really like her.

Then I want Edwards to pull off an upset in SC...

There are 48 left to go.. Dont Worry.. Be Happy !!

Obama is a good thing ! So is Edwards, and he will have his day, too !

24. Inevitability?? Are you kidding??? This has been an uphill fight for 11 months!!
Obama and his supporters have put their heart and soul into this campaign. I'm in SC, by the way, and there is no way an upset is going to happen. The same movement you have seen in Iowa and New Hampshire is happening right now in South Carolina. It is a GOOD thing.

25. Two factors
Obama is very rightwing Dem, almost Reep.

And he has big mo which some Dems want
to latch onto no matter the huge taints
and whiffs of corporatism, religionism,
and cultural conservatism that comprise
the stinky odor surrounding him now.
