Bradley on Obama: "He's not making a bipartisan appeal; he's making an American appeal."
Bill Bradley stumps for Obama in Hampton

Former U.S. senator Bill Bradley, D-N.J., came to Hampton on Monday to voice his support for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

...Bradley said Obama represents the possibility of good and the belief in a future that is "much brighter than today."

"Look at all this light shining down on him," Bradley said. "When the light shines on him he reflects it on the people."

Bradley spoke about the new era of American politics, with issues of health care, education, good jobs, pensions and America's "addiction to oil."

"I think Barack Obama embodies change," Bradley said. "He can also represent how much more and how much further we can go."

Bradley asked people to consider what would be the most historic change for America.

"Barack meets the needs of our moment," Bradley said. "(He's) truly putting together a new coalition of Democrats, Independents, and some Republicans."

"He's not making a bipartisan appeal; he's making an American appeal," Bradley said...

1. I wonder which cabinet post Sen. Bradley will be nominated for....
Not that Sen. Clinton or Sen. Edwards wouldn't have made the same kind of deals. (Thought I'd squeeze that in before I was swarmed by the Sen. Obama supporters.)

6. Me too...it's an elementary and powerful point
and, ultimately, it's what is separating Obama from the crowd.

9. "Look at all this light shining down on him," Bradley said. "When the light shines on him
he it on the people."

Wow. What kind of talk is that???? Sounds like an overdose of koolade. Look, don't get me wrong - I like Obama. But this messiaic, cult-like thing is scaring me.

11. Bill Bradley is an adult...you'll be OK
Here's more:

Q: Which Democratic candidate do you find the most impressive?
A: Right now, I suppose Obama is extremely impressive to me. He is in a cultural skyrocket, a vertical ascent.

Q: But doesn’t that contradict your argument? Couldn’t he be seen as coasting on charisma?
A: It’s not just charisma, because he has touched something very deep that had been waiting to be touched for a long time — returning idealism to a central focus of our politics. I tried to touch it in 2000 and didn’t make it.

7. Considering all the crimes committed by by those in the GOP,
and then covered up by their GOP enablers... I'm ALL in favor of partisanship.

13. I hope Bradley is right...he is certainly making an appeal in direct opposition
To that Edwards is making...

I think most of Bradley's comments are a tad nauseating...but essentially is correct about the appeal Obama is attempting...

What worries me is that the Republicans are going to view this as weakness in a relatively inexperienced candidate...and move the other way toward harsher and more virulent trashing...

Obama is going to have to be in his toes if he gets the nod...
