Edwards had very bad result
I'm not trying to be mean but I think he is done as far as the nomination is concerned. He needed to do better than this.

I understand he won't drop out but its going to be tough for him from now on.

8. Not necessarily
I think he placed well considering that all the noise for the past four days has been Hillary! Obama! Hillary! Obama! If Hillary wins and they are all scratching their heads, he might get another look.

It also shows that different states have different issues.

I live near the border in VT and Edwards got plenty of coverage where it counts.

27. I've always thought NH was a lousy state to have this much influence in
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 10:26 PM by Midwestern Democrat
Democratic presidential primaries - its electorate isn't reflective of the broad Democratic coalition - it's too skewed to the upscale and well educated for our party's good - the priorities of such voters aren't always in line with the needs of our traditional constituencies. Based on past history, Edwards most certainly would have skipped this state if not for its outsized influence on our nominating process.

Obama and Hillary are getting the media oxygen, but there's still plenty of campaigning yet to be done.

12. Not a great result, but he was never terribly strong up there.
He's definitely under the gun in SC and Nevada now.

I hope he stays in no matter how the rest of the primaries go. The country (and particularly the other candidates) NEED to hear his message and be influenced by it.

14. Edwards had a very good result. His numbers increased by 9 percentage points in 10 days....
Edwards has what in funds? 10% of the funds Obama and Hillary each do?

Also, everyone said for over a year that Hillary Clinton that she would be the clear "winner" since she was married to Bill Clinton and has the support of corporations and the rich. Nobody said Edwards would win, and he's hated by corporations and the rich.

Obama, since Oprah's endorsement, has been the real winner in all this.

He actually pissed me off. Not the first time he's done it. That combined with his comment about Hillary's display of emotion actually caused me to switch to Hillary.

19. NH
... was Hillary's to lose. She was always expected to win there. Then last week along comes rockstar Obama with all the press, and big MO ... so yeah, while an Edwards 2nd place would've been nice, I certainly never expected it.

The true bummer is that the big Media ( who were calling for John to drop out even after beating Hillary in Iowa ), will now go ballistic. Worse yet, this will make it even harder for his message to get out.

21. What ever!
John was smart enough to not buy in to the MSM bullshit about Iowa and N.H. There is less than 1.5 million people in N.H. Hardly representative of the General electorate! The next four states FAR out way the upper white class of N.H.

N.H. is mostly Republican ( I.E. voting for the easiest Dem candidate to beat in the general at this point) or at the very least the only way they get away with being independent is because the state primary allows any one to vote the way the want. Hardly representative of how they will vote in the general.

Look at the demographics for N.H. and you'll se the real picture!

He likely has spent more days in NH in the last 5 years than anyone in race. He spent most of his money there.
