A Black winner and a woman winner...
I'm proud of that. Whomever you support or prefer, that is special. You'd never see the GOP vote for candidates this diverse. In breaking ground like this, the Dems are all winners, in a way. It's historic.

5. In all fairness to the GOP candidates...
some are bald
some have grey hair
some are bald with grey hair
and then there's Mitt and his hair

that's pretty diverse, too.

6. It is wonderful!!
Some here would say that makes us racist and sexist. I think it makes us realists -- this is real progress toward breaking a VERY high glass ceiling!!

13. yeah
Some people think in pointing it out that we are specifically noting color or gender differences. But those who do that willfully ignore problems like that. They don't want to acknowledge problems women have in the workforce or the abject poverty of many minorities, to them it doesn't exist. Then you get Katrina and those horrors become self-evident, yet people still try to ignore it. Acknowledging and fighting for progress for women and minorities is much different than pretending it doesn't exist. If the Right isn't trying to demonize those groups, they are least ignore them. Reality is reality, you know?

12. well yeah but he would never win anything
in his party. Dems have minorities who are viable candidates, if not frontrunners. :)

8. Its totally cool. But it owe to both of them to ignore it and vote on their records.
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 11:29 PM by lvx35
These people are where they are because they earned it 100%, notthing else. We need to make sure they keep earning it, so we can celebrate TRUE achievement if/when one of them wins!

14. I wouldn't say ignore it
Acknowledge the progress, but move on and recognize their merits. They earned it, but they are each part of a phenomenon too.
