WP : Kerry donors include ‘Benedict Arnolds’
Candidate rips tax-haven firms, but takes execs' cash

Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.), the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, frequently calls companies and chief executives "Benedict Arnolds" if they move jobs and operations overseas to avoid paying U.S. taxes.

But Kerry has accepted money and fundraising assistance from top executives at companies that fit the candidate's description of a notorious traitor of the American Revolution.

Executives and employees at such companies have contributed more than $140,000 to Kerry's presidential campaign, a review of his donor records show. Additionally, two of Kerry's biggest fundraisers, who together have raised more than $400,000 for the candidate, are top executives at investment firms that helped set up companies in the world's best-known offshore tax havens, federal records show. Kerry has raised nearly $30 million overall for his White House run.

<snip>

Kerry has come under attack from President Bush, as well as some Democrats, for criticizing laws he voted for and lambasting special interests after accepting more money from paid lobbyists than any other senator over the past 15 years. Some Democrats worry that Kerry is leaving himself open for similar attacks on the latest issue.

1. As a liberal in a corporate world, how do my gifts imply my bosses OK?
or the Board Rooms ok?

This is NBC smear the Dem time - and I hope more folks in the media notice how they are doing the GOP assigned job.

3. Top executives
It was the bosses who were giving the money. You really should take the blinders off. If Kerry is getting large contributions from executives of companies that are benefitting from these policies, can we really expect him to implement any changes?

4. Same Can Be Said Of Edwards/Dean. At Least Kerry Has A LONG Liberal Record
unlike either Edwards or Dean.

2. Well, I've Heard Supporters For EVERY Candidate Justify The Fundraising
Example, Edwards' Bundles and also donations from Republican Law Firms as well as the investigation into employees at those firms expecting reimbursement from their bosses for their Edwards donations.

Dean's donations from AOL Time Warner employees...

This seems like "guilt" by association:

two of Kerry's biggest fundraisers, who together have raised more than $400,000 for the candidate, are top executives at investment firms that helped set up companies in the world's best-known offshore tax havens

5. "Benedict Arnold CEO" is just a "rhetorical flourish"
I'm sure Kerry and the CEOs laugh about the "Benedict Arnold" thing and their Skull & Bones parties, just like Theresa giggles when Kerry complains about tax cuts for the rich. It's all for show, no harm no foul!

7. if you have to ask, probably not!
Your job is to vote and perhaps donate some money - but don't think you'll get invited to the parties dear - that's not for the proles!

8. Does anyone here contribute to the candidates and work for one?
Key words:
"
Executives and employees at such companies have contributed more than $140,000 to Kerry's presidential campaign,"

Anyone here who works for the following companies is counted in those numbers. These companies have exported jobs oversees. You can get a sense of how many companies are taking advantage of the loop holes to benefit from our tax laws. Look at this list and realize the massive significance of what Kerry suggests doing. Anyone here who is a Dean supporter and contributed to him also would count under the MSNBC standard. Let's just ignore the fact that 140,000 is a pathetic number compared to what Bush gets.
