A question for NH
Anyone still up in these wee hours of the morning... who can help us to understand what happened there, with Hillary and Obama? Please share with us so we can know. I, like most of us, am completely stunned at these results.

1. Clinton was winning pre-Iowa
The pundits and pollsters seem to have greatly overstated the effects of the Iowa victory for Obama.

3. But Obama's supporters agreed with the pundits...
that Obama would win big in New Hampshire.

2. Independents went for Obama, Democrats for Hillary
Dems went for Hillary by 11 points.
Among the 4 in 10 voters who made up their mind in the last 72 hours, Obama and Clinton split 38-38.
But the big one is that New Hampshire voters don't give a shit what happens in Iowa. :D

4. Independant thinking people who avoid pollsters like the plague
I also had a bit of bitterness building in me about how Hillary was being treated by the media and even here. I was undecided heading into the polling station and she was at the polling station and shook my hand. She seemed like a nice person to me. Chelsea apologized to me for delaying me from voting, I thought it was a sign of good parenting.

5. Up here in New England...
...(although I'm a former PA resident who is now a Mainer), we don't like media telling us how we "voted" before we vote.

6. my nh perspective
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 12:29 AM by adapa
I worked on the clinton campaign for the last few months here in nh.

frankly i was worried today but I always thought it was closer then the polls showed. I thought we'd be a couple of points from Obama. But I remembered two things-
1) Carol Shae porter was given up for lost a few days before her election to congress two years ago. If I'm remembering correctly she was 8 points behind the day before the election. she went on to win.
2) This can not be stressed enough-the NH voter is a cranky, ornery independent voter. We reserve the right to decide at the last moment & change our minds.
3)I also know a die hard dem who voted for mccain because he hated both Huck & mit.

just some ideas
forgive the spelling- it's be a *long* day. We had a MASSIVE Get out the vote effort! 5am came very early this morning
