It's juvenile and counter-productive.
I have my beefs with Edwards, some of it for his campaign tactics, some of it for his policies, some of it for his qualifications (or lack thereof). But I cannot for the life of me understand why one of his supporters found it necessary to add the Clark-out picture to his signature--which is where, as far as I know, the "signature war" started.
I also resent the thread(s) that state or imply that those of us in the Clark/Kerry camp attack Edwards because we are "jealous" or blame him for Clark's campaign problems. I guess it makes them feel better to think there's no rational reason not to support their candidate.
There's nothing wrong with agressive and passionate debate. Lord knows the Clark vs. Dean arguments got pretty heated, to say the least.
But this latest manifestation of the Clark vs Edwards controversy has just gotten silly and rude.
Personally, if you'll pardon the armchair psychology, I think a lot of it stems from 1) Edwards supporters are scared to death that it's just a matter of time before they're in our boat; and, 2) we both see our candidates as rivals for Kerry's VP choice. The former is justified (altho no reason to take it out on Clark). The latter is just dumb, since Kerry will probably pick someone else altogether, and even if not, nothing said here at DU will influence his decision.
Oh yeah, and the whole thing is exacerbated by Trippi's stupid statements about Clarkies abandoning Kerry, which in effect is the same thing as abandoning Clark. That may be what started the uglier aspects of this whole bruhaha.
