Is Kerry hoping for a VP nod from Obama?
If not, why would he choose this moment to offer a purely symbolic endorsement that nobody cares about (except Edwards supporters)? Any thoughts?

2. I think Obama will take Massachusetts in the general
with or without Kerry. Isn't that what picking a veep is about?

3. Kerry knows Edwards isn't going to win, and knows Hillary won't
give him the time of day if she's President. It's his chance to make an ally in Obama.

12. If that's his only motivation...
then he should have waited another month. It would have been less messy.

16. I doubt that his endorsement would make a difference either way..
and I'm sure he knows that as well.

9. Maybe he's just supporting the person he thinks can do the job best.
Doesn't always have to be a quid pro quo involved.

13. I would not mind that
but I do not think it works to go from being the candidate to being the VEEP candidate. I've never seen it happen.

15.  I hope not. I'd hate to have to hold my nose with a ticket that contains his name again.
But I would hold it and vote and be happy I fuckin did.

17. Why would he take a demotion?
Kerry's still the junior Senator from MA, but he's still got more power there than he would as Vice President.

18. Obama's Green Platform, Anti-Nuke Stance and Call to Citizen Service
Make him an excellent fit, not to mention Kerry's belief in bipartisanship without sacrificing your progressive values through triangulating policies.

21. I think you are being too cynical
Obama, Clinton, and Kerry are current US Senators, who work together on a daily basis, so the endorsement of a senator has some significance.

I'm sure some of it is based on friendships, but having a president who can make friends is not a bad thing.

Clinton is well ahead in Senator endorsements, although only 14 have so far voiced their opinion. I'm not sure what they're waiting for, but I think they will start coming in after the South Carolina primary.

23. No. He thinks Obama would be the best candidate and best President, and so endorsed him
in hopes of giving his campaign momentum heading into S.C.
