According to Recent NC Poll: Southern White Dems Do not Support Obama
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 03:13 PM by hnmnf

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Release_011008.pdf

This is the poll that shows Clinton in the lead with 31%, 29% for Obama, and 27% for Edwards. Obama leads with black voters 63% to CLinton's 18%, to Edwards 6%, but that can be expected. What is shocking is even though NH and Iowa white dems showed to support Obama, NC white dems do not support him. Its not suprising that he is behind, but just how far behind he is. Clinton gets 36%, Edwards gets 35%, and Obama is well back with only 16%.

2. Southern white Dems hold their purses when they see me coming with 6 Chihuahuas
as if I have enough hands to rob them...
AND
as if I'd let my Chihuahuas go to rob them of the $15 they have in their dusty pocketbooks.

Such as this piece of crap

Subject: FW: Obama Church link

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A "must read" for anyone who thinks Obama would impartially represent all Americans. Check it out on Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/church.asp

Snopes tries to be truthful, I think, but most of the time very careful and extremely politically correct. However, the best they can do in commenting on Obama's church still leaves it as what it is, stated in their own words on their own website.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I opened the church web site and found it embracing Africa, not America!

Check out the web site after reading the information ...keep this one going ! ! !

Obama mentioned his church during his appearance with Oprah. It's the Trinity Church of Christ. I found this interesting.........

Obama's church:

Please read and go to this church's website and read what is written there. It is very alarming. Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U.S. If you look at the first page of their website, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa . No where is AMERICA even mentioned. Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join Obama's church...

B-L-A-C-K!!! Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.

Are you aware that Obama's middle name is Mohammed? Strip away his nice looks, the big smile and smooth talk and what do you get? Certainly a racist, as plainly defined by the stated position of his church! And possibly a covert worshiper of the Muslim faith, even today. This guy desires to rule over America while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa ! I cannot believe this has not been all over the TV and newspapers. This is why it is so important to pass this message along to all of our family & friends. To think that Obama has even the slightest chance in the run for the presidency, is really scary.

Click on the link below:

This is the web page for the church Barack Obama belongs to:

16. I was too. But then I lived in NC for 2 years.
For the most part the people I met down there were some of the nicest people Ive known. But I did find closeted racism in some very unexpected places (people). Sometimes I even felt like they werent aware of it themselves. But then again... I was often referred to as "that Yankee".

There is, of course, the gun-rack-having confederate-flag-flying "hey boy" contingency. But Id never call one of them a Democrat. I refuse.

15. Great point.
They haven't been paying attention in NC as much, so much of their support goes to the two most widely known candidates.

17. We can't read too much into this NC poll for that very reason
In South Carolina Obama is tied with Edwards for second among whites and only about nine points behind Hillary.

12. Yeah, but what about Southern white independent voters
such as me?

That statement is true, but only when you consider the 'Andy Griffith' type of 'hill-billy' Democrats who are probably a majority in NC but not necessarily elsewhere in the South. Otherwise Edwards would be the comeback kid in all the Southern state primaries.

If Obama has a strong showing in the other 'hill-billy' states like Tennessee, Arkansas, West Virginia, ect., I'd say that's the writing on the wall for JE, he could quit wasting any more of his time and energy and gracefully exit the scene stage right.

18. They are irrelevant
Sorry to say this, I am one, but Southern White Males are irrelevant. We know how they are going to vote and that is fine but it doesn't really make any difference. The Republican party is completely isolated and is only the party of the South. They don't matter anymore. They are getting creamed in the suburbs in the rest of the country (the mountain west will be the big battleground along with the usual states with Virginia added in).

There are no Southern Republicans in any leadership positions on any committees or sub-committees at this time.

21. They are Democrats! They are not irrelevant! WTF?
It is not irrelevant for Democrats not to vote for fellow Democrats just because of the color of the Democrats skin......... just as it would not be irrelevant for Democrats not to vote for fellow Democrats because of the shape of their genitals!

That's the equivalent of ceding power to 'the other guy'!

That's also the equivalent of saying 'The Democrats should never put (blacks) or (women) up for higher office because fellow Democrats will break ranks and vote white Republican' -- and that's anathema to me.

Who dares to give up power to the 'other guy' because one's own party members are bigots and that's just the way it is?

Likewise, who dares remove power from their own party members (definitely black and possibly female), because a significant number of fellow party members (white) won't have anything to do with them?

That is unacceptable. And it continues to floor me that any Democrat would say that it is acceptable to throw away fellow Democrats votes into the Republican corner out of a refusal to deal with the bigotry in the party.

20. And the sky is blue and the sun rises in the East.
There is racism in the Democratic Party.
It's known.
It's documented.
It's nearing two centuries old.

But I believe can be defeated.

If only because it looks bad for white Republicans to support Obama, and to think highly of him, but for white Democrats to run away from him. It looks very bad. Just as it's bad for highly placed black democrats to encourage other black democrats not to support Obama because he is black (!) but to support Hillary instead because she is white and most likelyto win the nomination anyway.

There is no cure except for getting Obama out there to speak with them. Perhaps they'll be like black audience members in New York when he spoke at the Apollo who were fired up by Obama but would not vote for him because he was black (!) and had no chance.......... but you can't know until you get out there.

Obama knows what he's doing. He will keep on keeping on.
