American Samoa Governor Tulafono Endorses Clinton
PRESS RELEASE.

Prominent Community Leaders also Back Hillary
The Clinton campaign today announced the endorsement of American Samoa Governor Togiola T.A. Tulafono, and named him National Co-Chair of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Hillary.

Three other super-delegates to the Democratic National Convention also endorsed Hillary: Chairman of the American Samoa Democratic Party Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde and Samoa Democratic National Committee Members Deanna Fuimaono and Nathaniel Savali. Senator Clinton has been endorsed by former Samoa Party State Chair Oreta Togafau and Party Executive Director Clara Reid.

"I believe in Senator Hillary Clinton because she talks like one of us, and she inspires confidence, warmth, and trust for all people," said Governor Tulafono.

"At a time when our country faces so many complex challenges, we need a leader with the strength and the experience to make change happen starting from day one," said Langkilde. "That leader is Hillary Clinton."

In 1978, Tulafono was appointed as a District Court Judge, and served in that capacity for two years. He was elected to the American Samoa Senate in 1980, serving through 1984 and then from 1988 to 1996. Tulafono served as Lt. Governor from 1996-2003, before becoming Governor of the territory.

Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde is President of Samoa’s Malama TV and is a former member of the American Samoa House of Representatives and of the Democratic National Committee.

Deanna Fuimaono is Legal Counsel of the American Samoa Senate. Nathaniel Savali is Legal Counsel of the territory’s House of Representatives.

Oreta Togafau currently serves a Senior Policy Advisor to the Governor. She formerly was District Office Director for Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives Eni Faleomavaega, and served 13 years as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American Samoa Community College. Clara Reid has worked in Samoa’s Office of Tourism for 18 years.

4. Roseanne Barr?
Rudy Ghouliani? Um ... oh! You don't mean Mr. Hope and Change wrapped in paper-thin gossamer, do you? Yeah, I've noticed.

DU is currently awash in cheap snake oil.

19. nope. Yesterday Obama got three: Kerry, George Miller and
Senator Johnson. Today he got one: Arizona's guv. And it's expected that two more Senators will endorse him today.

Congrats to Clinton though for this endorsement.

7. and when the delegate count comes out at Convention
time and Hillary has more than Obama -- despite his undeniable popularity and charm -- and, therefore, the Nomination, perhaps you WILL be quaking in your boots. Nah, you'll probably be still bitching, complaining and endlessly whining about All Things Hillary.

Super-delegates and delegates are not to be so casually dismissed.

13. And A Bit Of Zenophobia
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 10:43 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
I think the irony of the campaign is that the supporters of the candidate who promises to bring us together are some of the most exclusionary thinkers on this board... It is as if only one form of bigotry exists and all other forms of bigotry are to be ignored if not exploited as in L'affaire McClurkin....

21. I see very, very little -- if any! -- Hope and Change,
Working Together and Optimism in any of the Posts or Responses from those passionately supporting Obama.

It would be interesting to know the age group of those most passionate and vocal in their support of Obama on DU. It could be -- and this may just be me talking out of my hat (a phrase I've never understood but will still use here anyway) -- that they're not as politically aware or savvy and, perhaps, don't understand that a) their candidate can -- and at times surely will -- lose and b) politics is very fluid and nothing, NOTHING is written in stone.

No matter the current glowing Press coverage, the overflow crowds, the bright smile and smooth-as-silk rhetoric stuffed into paper thin speeches all wrapped in a fragile layer of beautiful gossamer, all of that isn't worth a hill of beans if the Voters decide that although the model looks good on the show room floor -- nice and shiny and kinda fancy --, they're not really sure it'll work as well as the other tried-and-true one because, after all, it hasn't really been tested all that much.

So, in one second on one day with one vote, all the hosannas and teary-eyed fans can be left holding an empty bag of Hope and Change and tired, empty rhetoric.

I say this in the utmost seriousness... It is a sad paradox that the supporters of the candidate who promises to bring us all together are doing everything their power to divide us...

20. Read about the F#cking Labor rights of the American Somoans...
Then take a look at the Clinton legacy regarding trade issues and the effects it has on labor rights outside the US.

What the Hell is wrong with you people!?!?!?

25. Maybe because their below-minimum wage jobs are dependent
upon voting for the corporate candidate?

Oh, you mean why are the superdelegates, whose local economies are entirely dependent upon the corporations which pay below minimum wage, voting for the corporate candidate.

Sorry, my misunderstanding.
