Dream ticket: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama

Or the other way around. Imagine how many of the disenfranchised and discriminated against they would mobilize--not only many blacks and women, but gays, Latinos, disabled, seniors, Muslims, and anyone else who's felt discriminated against. Further, if Obama and Hillary were on the same ticket, it would it eliminate bad feelings and motivate tens of thousands to register. Add to that labor, traditional liberals and Democrats, and many independents who are simply fed up with the Republicans, and I think the Democrats would win really big in November. I don't think Hillary would take VP, because if she doesn't win Presidency this time around she never will; on the other hand, the Vice Presidency would be a great stepping stone for Obama. It would completely eliminate the experience issue.

And it's not just on DU.

I think the candidates understand that an election is a sports contest, nothing more. It's who can say and do the things necessary to win. I'm certain the loser will be gracious in defeat, as well as realistic and pragmatic.

this country is still racist and misogynist (sp?) enough where a lot of otherwise well-meaning folks would run from a ticket like that. it would be mondale in 84 all over again.

case in point -- i have a close friend who has a good, liberal heart. votes democratic straight down the line. there's just one thing; he's scared shitless of strong women, thanks to the number his mom did on him. if hillary gets the nod, he'll either sit at home or do nothing once he gets in the voting booth.

that ticket gives too many people a reason not to vote. i'm certainly not saying it's right. it's just reality in this country, unfortunately.

I think it would be too much to ask the voters to accept both. That would be a wide deviation from the white male norm

I would be very disappointed if Obama would sell his vision for Hillary's pragmatism. And do
you think that after this divisive race, that the feelings would be put aside on either side? I doubt it.

She has the experience and is ready to lead. He has youth and enthusiasm and could make a run of his own after her term. The best of both worlds, but it'll never happen.

I see it as a reality....Hillary Clinton/Barak Obama Ticket. Obama for VP is strong enough to keep Bill out of the "business" while on the other side, after hours, I can see Bill Clinton embracing Obama as a mentoring "Big Brother". Bill Clinton could take him around the world teaching, building and molding the next President. A unique gift.

I worked with quite a few Independents and moderate Republicans who loved Bill Clinton solely because they associate him with the technology boom times -- big increases in 401Ks and stock options. There are tens of thousands of middle class white guys, I think, who would support a ticket with both Hillary and Barack because of their love for Bill.

Hillary would have to keep Obama locked away out of the public spotlight, otherwise every time VP Obama made another inspiring speech the voters might come to realize that they elected the wrong person to be President.

That would hurt her feelings........

I've hoped for it, too, but they'd both have a field day, accusing Clinton of triangulating, pandering, backtracking her position on experience matters most, and all the rest of it. How could they make all that right? Maybe there's a way.

Because lobbyists represent real people.
