31. Well maybe you need to tell the Clintons that. Of course
they already know that but that wouldn't help their campaign.

The latest in trying to use Obama's race to discourage people from supporting him:

Aides believe that, combined with a surge of support among women, Clinton's 'crying' incident, and the possible role of race in bringing white voters to the New York senator's side, they see the makings of a reconfigured strategy to carry the campaign forward.

19. I don't see racial tension.
I see some people who won't be voting for Obama, and some supporters who take that as a racist attack.

Note the key words SOME.

Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 07:50 PM by David Zephyr
One Hillary supporter here used the term "screaming monkeys" to describe Oprah's audience.

I could go on and on.

It's right here at the DU and it makes me sick.

16. And of those within the party who aren't, after all?
Their votes count... and their votes don't help their own party, if they're willing to let race be their guide instead of policy and platform.

Be it black ministers exhorting black parishioners to avoid voting for a man because he is black ...

or white democrats saying they'll vote republican if a black is on the ballot for democrats...

or latino democrats rolling their eyes and preferring a woman less because of her stances and her shot at history, but because she is white....

it's a problem, and it needs to be dealt with.

Southern white male "Democrats" who manufacture "reasons" to oppose Barack.

It makes me furious.

18. i agree, except the southern white male stereotype needs to stop.
this is universal -- it includes both genders and all races -- and it's frightening in the applications of its universalness.

but yes, the veiled racism within the democratic party is disappointing.

the refusal to acknowledge that it exists, from some corners, is more disappointing.

You don't have to manufacture reasons, :tinfoilhat:bama's an empty suit with big rhetoric and a big smile who doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning in the general election but has every possibility of tearing our party apart for no good reason except so he can build a "movement", make history and a bunch of money.

We will NEVER be ready, if we wait for everything to be smooth and easy.

What is being exposed is ugly, and stupid.
But it will never be healed or addressed if we run the other way.

I'm ready- WE'RE READY.

If not now- when?????
