The plaintiffs are the Nevada State Education Association and others who are not happy about "at large" precincts that will be located in areas such as casinos on the Strip so that workers can vote. This plan has been known for some time but the educators and others must have just learned of it.
Here's a link to the lawsuit which is in .pdf and contains lots of juicy details on why this is a problem and violates "equal protection" of Dem voters in precincts and how it would impact the dreaded "super-delegate" count. I hope this stops the stupid caucus. We should have never given up our primary for Rory Reid and friends.
How stupid do they think everyone is? They set up "at large" precincts just for shift workers at the major casinos who have 4,000 or more workers. But not for the shift workers in casinos statewide or the gold mines.
They set up a different time to start on January 19th then the actual caucus time.
They use the formula in the State statutes to calculate people to delegates. So in Nevada, if you are in a county precinct to caucus, you get one delegate for every 50 people. And then we end up with extra delegates from these special "at large" casino precincts that have just been invented.
But even worse, they get delegates at a faster rate. These special precincts get 5 people to every delegate compared to 50 people to every delegate in a county precinct.
So basically, Nevada doesn't let every shift worker on day shifts throughout Nevada be part of these new "at large" precincts to caucus and add up new delegates. They make think this is a fair formula but it sounds like cheating to me.

Sometimes I am embarrassed to live here and it is not because of brothels, drinking and gambling.
