No, the results aren't going to change but it's interesting nonetheless. Is there going to be one? Has DK decided to foot the bill?

9. that seems very ludicrous
for insuring we have fair elections, so if their is blatent fraud a candidate still has to pay out of pocket for a recount? why does it cost money in order to insure fair elections?

7. A real recount means that the optical scan ballots are counted by hand, not by machine

Gardner: Recount to go forward for both parties' primaries
January 11, 2008 4:32 PM

CONCORD — State officials say they will conduct a hand recount of Tuesday's Democratic and Republican presidential primaries at the request of two minor candidates.

Ohio Democrat Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who received less than 2 percent of the vote, and Republican Albert Howard of Michigan, who received about 44 votes statewide, are expected to pay a $2,000 fee to start the process, state officials said.

"Mr. Howard has satisfied the requirements for initiating a statewide recount of the Republican Primary," Secretary of State William Gardner said in a statement. Officials said they expected a check from Kucinich to arrive late Friday, satisfying his requirements for the request.

Gardner is preparing an estimate the recount's cost, which the requesting candidates must pay before it will begin. He said he expects to start the recount Jan. 16, and will announce further details once the payments have been received.

13. Who can trust the recount? By now there have probably been
too many chain of custody violations with the ballots that it would make your head spin.

14. Here's the latest news that I've heard, was on the news tonight.
And it's both DK and a little-known republican, neither of whom will win no matter what the outcome, who are calling for the recount...

Primary votes to be recounted
GOP, Democratic candidates request it

January 12. 2008 12:20AM

Votes cast in New Hampshire's Democratic and Republican presidential primaries will undergo a hand recount, after two candidates who garnered little support here questioned the results.

The Democratic recount was requested by Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who won about 1 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary. In a letter to Secretary of State Bill Gardner, Kucinich cited "unexplained disparities between hand-counted ballots and machine-counted ballots" and pointed to the divergence between opinion polls leading up to the primary - which showed Barack Obama ahead by a wide margin - and the final outcome. Hillary Clinton narrowly won the Democratic contest.

On the Republican side, a Michigan chauffeur and little-known presidential candidate named Albert Howard joined forces with supporters of Rep. Ron Paul yesterday to request a full recount of the Republican ballots from Tuesday's primary.

Howard is a 41-year-old father of eight from Ann Arbor who says he believes an angel of the Lord came to him and told him he would beat Clinton in a run for the presidency. He flew to New Hampshire on Thursday night and was at Gardner's office at 8:30 yesterday morning with the necessary paperwork.
