Real News network: biased or unaware?
I visit the Real News network regularly and it seems like a really good source of news and opinion....I mean it seems that way. BUT: a couple of things are bugging me. I was just there and saw an interview with Mike Gravel talking about the 'Democrat' primaries.

Now, I have to tell you that when I hear something like this, my alarms go off...that Joe McCarthy/Newt Gingrich horse shit does piss me off, I admit it.

I've heard Paul Jay, the main interviewer, use the term 'nukyular' instead of nuclear numerous times, but I let it go, even though it makes the fillings in my teeth hurt every time I hear it.

Perhaps, my good friends at DU, someone can enlighten me about what, if anything, might be done about this...I already joined and posted a very civil comment there. If anybody's trying to start a thought virus at that site, perhaps some others would be interested in joining in with the protest?

Opinions, please. Oh, and if you're going to give me a 'get over it' post, plese do it in a polite manner. Thanks.

1. Have you watched the interview with Paul Jay?
It explains their approach to news reporting.

Personally, I am very happy with their coverage of issues which is why I have a link to them in my signature. I don't see any bias, other than allowing the person being interviewed to have the time chance to get their message across without being shouted down or resorting to shallow soundbytes or talking points. I wish more networks operated like them.

2. I love the concept of the RealNews (IWT)....

and have donated.

I haven't had the chance to view the interview you mentioned but I have been disappointed in the Realnews. Their schedule for deployment keeps slipping. We needed this years ago but they are sooooooooo slow.

I wish them the best.

I'd like to hear from others about them.

3. So they're unaware then?
I mean I like them too. The Gore Vidal interviews were wonderful.

But should we just let this go? I don't know about you folks, but it grates me whenever I hear this 'Democrat Party' stuff.

Paul Jay should know better, shouldn't he? If he's the upstanding journalist that he appears to be, then wouldn't he be interested in not participating in such shenanigans, knowing- or un-knowingly?

I'm just sayin.....

4. Hi navarth. The nuclear term was not evident to me, but what
stuck out to me in this interview was that Gravel said that the Republicans were nuts. Then he gives his frog analogy. The Republicans have boiling H2O and the frog jumps out, but with the Dem's. the frog is in tepid H2O and is cooked because he is tricked into slowly rising temp. That's my first take on this.

5. That's fine, but
I'm specifically addressing the 'Democrat' instead of 'Democratic' reference in both titles of that video/thread.

I mentioned the fact that Paul Jay says 'nukular' in passing as another strange fact about Real News that I overlooked until I saw this bastardization of 'Democratic'.
