Poor Obama, I feel sorry for him.If I had been running HRC's
campaign, and Kerry offered his endorsement,I'd give him a million dollars to endorse my opponent, instead and then i'd write that million off as the most useful advertising expense ever!

John Kerry, arguably our least-liked Democrat (sincec Kissyface Joe went to the Dark Side) picked John Edwards for VP in 2004 (after McCain turned him down, they say) and now, three years later, Edwards isn't deserving of Kerry's vote? Edwards is either steaming or happy as hell, anybody know which? I say HAPPY AS HELL

When HRC wins the most states on Feb 5th the HRC campaign should give John and his wife a cruise around the world that will return to America the day after the election in November, because if he's here, he may open his mouth and blow everything for us.

3. Bill Clinton lobbied hardest for Kerry's endorsement. Must not be THAT bad.
If Kerry had given in to Bill,
just as if Oprah had given in to Hillary,

what would those who support the Clintons say
of either Kerry or Oprah?

28. Who said Clinton lobbied for Kerry's endorsement?
I didn't know that. My spy was pissed that Kerry did that. If Kerry had any kind of competition he could very well lose. The guy right now that it running against him is kind of a loony toon.

32. Here's the Daily Kos diary that explains Kerry being lobbied by Clinton
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 09:03 PM by Anouka
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/11/14112/1452/429/434865

here's the source the Daily Kos diarist (since for some reason we're forbidden to use names) named within his diary:

http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/01/that_kerry_endorsement.html

The Washington Post sees former Democratic nominee John Kerry's endorsement of Barack Obama as a setback for his 2004 running mate John Edwards. But a source close to Kerry tells me that the person who had been working hardest to get it was Hillary Clinton--to the point where her husband had personally lobbied Kerry's brother Cam and his former brother-in-law David Thorne.

Kerry has never been particularly close to the Clintons. He thought they could have done far more to help him in 2004, and hasn't forgotten that Hillary Clinton was one of the first to criticize him over what he called a "botched joke" about U.S. troops in Iraq in 2006. (This, of course, was when Kerry was still considered a contender to be running against Clinton in 2008.) It helped, too, that Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is supporting Obama, and that much of Kerry's fundraising network has already migrated to the Obama campaign.

What's Kerry's endorsement worth? The significance of these things with voters tend to be overplayed, and Kerry's own performance in 2004 has devalued his stock with the Democratic Party. But it does lend some establishment cred to the Obama operation. And Kerry still has the remnants of an organization in the primary states, as well as an enormous e-mail list.

The writer of this piece, Karen Tumulty, is described as "TIME's National Political Correspondent and has also covered the White House and Congress."

So who knows, right?

What is your opinion of Ms. Tumulty's characterization of Kerry's relationship with the Clintons, if I may ask?

16. The average person doesn't share your Kerry disdain...
Therefore, the average person, is not going to see Kerry's endorsement of Obama
as you do.

It's not that big of a deal. It's one endorsement.

It was significant because he is an established Dem who has been around for decades.

The endorsement showcases that Hillary, even though she's been around for years, does
not have across-the-board support from the Democratic establishment. The endorsement
also shows that Obama, a Senate newcomer has the ability to garner support from experienced
Dems who have been around a while.

And if I were you, I'd pay attention to the fans Hillary seems to have. Karl Rove cut Obama seven
ways to Sunday--and his actions were tantamount to endorsing Hillary. I'd take a Kerry endorsement
over being philosophically aligned with Rove--any day of the week.

21. JK Didn't Endorse JE, Oh Well
I'm an Edwards supporter and don't think Kerry's endorsement would have made a difference to Edwards one way or another. I mean, sure some people like to play like Edwards is better off without it, and some like to make it sound like a huge slap in the face to Edwards. It is neither.

Kerry owes Edwards nothing and Edwards should know better than to expect anything from Kerry. Theirs was a "marriage of convenience" all along. Kerry picked Edwards because Edwards had done so well in the primary, he knew it would appease Edwards supporters. He also hoped it might make him competitive in the south. I don't think Edwards was Kerry's first choice and I think Edwards knew that but he was wanting a shot at the White House badly enough to take the VP slot and hope that after 8 years...

After they didn't win, I think at least a part of them blamed the other. Kerry would only be human to wonder had he picked a different running mate would things have turned out differently. For Edwards it would also be natural to think that had Kerry listened to more of his ideas on campaigning they would have been in the White House.

Continue whining. That Hillary supporters are making this circus is a good sign that this endorsement is good.
