Obama precinct captain: "I may have to resign" over flyer
http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/

A precinct captain for Barack Obama in Nevada tells us that he may have to resign from the campaign after distributing a flier that's drawing complaints from Hillary Clinton supporters on the Web.

Retiree Bob Buchanan, who is walking a Reno precinct for Obama, has been passing out a flier in which he urges Republicans and independents to vote -- as they're allowed to do-- in the Democratic caucuses in Nevada Saturday. "Be a Democrat for a Day," the flier says. "You can make the difference if you think a Democrat is going to win in November and you don't want Hillary."

3. You do understand that it's these voters that will help solidy secure the next president, right?

I mean, I understand the concerns over people voting just to sway the votes. However, in the end - 79% of americans want change. The democratic party is their only hope for change. So why shouldn't they review the candidates, and if allowed - make sure their voice is heard?

I support their right to vote for whomever they choose to. Please remember, greater people have died for this right.

ETA: Where I think he was wrong, was for pointing out HRC in the flyer.

13. Yet oddly enough, Obama keeps pandering to them
and adopting their talking points even more than Clinton has this year....

6. Republicans and Independents should not be deciding who will be the Democratic nominee
Those thinking of voting in the primary need to consider any possible consequences. They might receive unwanted calls from the Democratic Party and/or candidates requesting contributions. Be unable to participate in a Republican Convention because they have a D in their last voting history. Unable to run as a Republican in an election.

5. Be a Democrat for a Day
I know the Obama campaign has already distanced themselves from this, but I dont understand why they did.

One of Obama's greatest strengths comes from his ability to draw independants and fed up Republicans into voting for him (which we will need in November), and since its legal for caucus goers in Nevada to vote outside their party like was legal in Iowa, whats the problem?

7. He is appealing to voters who think he will be a weak Gen Elect candidate and easier to defeat.

12. Read further, advice - complete opposition research before posting
The answer from Buchanan: Nothing's "going on" with Obama, because the flier was his effort and his alone. Buchanan said he's been frustrated that the Obama campaign in Nevada hasn't tried harder to reach out to Republicans and independents, and that he came up with the idea for the flier as a way to make the pitch.

14. I see nothing wrong with this
Yeah I can see people not liking the appeal to republicans for primary votes part, but I believe that independents should definitely get a say in our primary. The most important thing when picking a candidate to run in a general election is their appeal to independents, because independents decide elections, not democrats or republicans.
