3. McCain is seen as a party backstabber, and all about McCain--

The GOP doesn't like "mavericks" (even fake ones like McCain)--they see McCain as having a history of bashing the GOP for MSM attention. They prefer their candidates to be famous for toeing the party line, which presumably would turn off the "liberal" MSM. They distrust Huckabilly for the same reason--the MSM likes him too much.
