If all the states voted on the same day, then all the candidates would have had a fair chance. That's why I don't feel sorry for anyone who loses due to possible vote tampering, etc. It's us, the voters, who should be upset. Not the candidates who have done nothing to secure the machines or make sure all voices are heard.

1. Representatives can do that?
C'mon now.

The election machine is in the hands of the party orgs.

2. the election machine is in the control of the state governments
its not in the control of the federal government

If you want better elections, demand it from your state.

3. Candidates can't change the system
As I understand it, the primary system for each state is decided upon by the Democrats of that state. To change to one primary where all states participate would take convincing every state Democratic Party to agree and to comply. Doing this would take up all of a person's time. This would be a task for someone within the national party with some standing, such as Howard Dean. Have you written and suggested it to him?

8. "If all the states voted on the same day, then all the candidates would have had a fair chance."
No. If all the states voted on the same day, then the entire primary campaign would all be about one enormous money blitz. By letting a few small states go first, a candidate's message, connection, charisma, and dedication can outweigh money (at least in the early states), as Edwards and Huckabee showed.
