Edwards pics by Annie Leibovitz plus more
Who knew there was a mens vogue and it has political stuff. Nine pics of
Edwards taken by Annie Leibovitz just scroll through 1-9 on top of pic
http://www.mensvogue.com/business/slideshows/2007/06/john_edwards

An article on Edwards
http://www.mensvogue.com/business/politics/feature/articles/2007/06/john_edwards

And an article on Mudcat Saunders talking about himself and Edwards
http://www.mensvogue.com/business/politics/interviews/articles/2007/06/david_mudcat_saunders
Which has absolutely terrific quotes from Mudcat

"MEN'S VOGUE: Some people give Edwards grief because he's rich and he
wants to talk about the poor.

SAUNDERS: Oh, I've gotten that for sure. It's like Harry Truman said,
The president of the United States is the lobbyist for the regular
people." It drives me berserk when someone says that Johnny's a wuss
or something. Let me tell you something, John Edwards is one tough son
of a bitch.

MEN'S VOGUE: Did you have a fight with him or something?

SAUNDERS: No, I just know him. Look at his track record. He's born
poor as a church mouse. And his dad works up a little bit so by the
time he gets out of school, he's pretty much middle class even though
he didn't have much. So he decides he's going to earn a football
scholarship at Clemson University, so he goes down there and he's one
of these Rudy guys and he gets the absolute dog crap beat out of him.
The guy is quicker than a hiccup, he really is, but he weighed a
hundred and nothing and they beat the hell out of him. And he did that
for a year, and at the end of the year they said no scholarship is
coming, so he transferred to NC State. Then he starts his career as a
trial lawyer and he immediately takes on the biggest, toughest,
baddest legal firms in America and whips their asses taking up for
little people. You don't do that unless you're tough. And I will say
this: I'd hate to fight him cause you'd have to kill him, because he
would fight you to the last second. I want that toughness in my
president, because we can't win on a freakin' haircut."

You gotta love a guy named Mudcat.

One time, I tried to buy a house designed by Andrew Lloyd Weber.

It sounded good over the phone, though.

16. 1 and 9 were my favorites, too.
I converted #9 to b/w and printed it, and it's now pinned to my inspirational cube wall... along with Newman/Ross/Redford in costume, a beautiful shot of the young Coretta kissing a smiling MLK Jr., Keillor, Ivins, Lennon, CSN&Y, Mickey and Roger, Clinton meeting JFK, Al Gore (of course), and Johnny Depp. A motley crew, but when I'm stuck for words, I can always look at one of them and get over the block.

Thanks to OP.

gullible

1793 (implied in gullibility), earlier cullibility (1728), probably connected to gull, a cant term for "dupe, sucker" (1594), which is of uncertain origin. It is perhaps from the bird (see gull (n.)), or from verb gull "to swallow" (1530, from O.Fr. goule, from L. gula "throat," see gullet); in either case with a sense of "someone who will swallow anything thrown at him." Another possibility is M.E. dial. gull "newly hatched bird" (1382), which is perhaps from O.N. golr "yellow," from the hue of its down.

36. I liked this Saunders quote
"SAUNDERS: In 1980, one percent of the people made eight percent of the money, now one percent of the people makes more than 20 percent of the money. Disparity is at an all-time high. And it pisses me off that anytime anybody asks a question about John Edwards and his strong beliefs on economic fairness, everybody talks about how he isn't qualified to talk about it because he has a highfalutin haircut and lives in a high-powered house. What they're saying is only the uneducated can talk about education, only the sick can talk about health care. That's how ludicrous that whole mindset is."

Thanks for the links.

The pictures of him in New Orleans is dear to me - lived there from 1989 to 2002, met and married Mr. WFH and had first child there. New Orleans will always hold a deep and special place in my heart and to have John Edwards there, helping to rebuild, to announce his bid for the presidency from the ninth ward and to continue to shine a spotlight on the gross injustice of the treatment and recovery effort - well, let's just say, Edwards is my pick to lead this country.
