So, Hillary speaking truth about Johnson's role in civil rights legislation passage
is BAD...bad

Obama, heaping praise on Reagan over BC is GOOD...good...unifying. Wonder what MLK would have thought about Johnson's role in civil rights vs Reagan's role?

6. Seems to me Obama sees himself as a Reagan-type Pres--someone who
can change the 'trajectory' of the country with his vision--something that he also says Clinton was not able to accomplish.

7. Maybe Obama should visit Philadelphia MS
Maybe Obama should visit Philadelphia MS and commemorate Reagan beginning his campaign there. It's becoming evident that :tinfoilhat:bama will say anything to get elected. It's also evident more and more that neither him or his supporters know a damn thing about history. Notice no mention of Illinois senator Everett Dirksons role in passing Civil rights legistlation. If :tinfoilaht"bama wants to praise Repubicans maybe he can find a good one if he looks in the history books about his "home" state>

You KNOW who would have been all over it condemning her ... YUP ... the same ones racing from thread to thread to defend Obama.

The irony and hypocrisy are something to behold.

22. uhhhh, nooooooooooo..............

but then, I didn't scream bloody murder about Obama saying it either. I was pointing out the incredibly obvious double-standard I've been watching for weeks now. You know, The Saint Obama vs The Demon Hillary marathon. I leave the trashing of the Democratic candidates to the RW and the Obama supporters.

The Obama supporters are destroying this board with their non-stop, blind, mindlessly vicious attacks. Some of you people need serious help.

13. Wrong! If HRC truly believes "the lie" that billionaire Johnson was not referring to Obama's ...
teenage drug use, then she's way too naive and trusting (we all KNOW better) to be President.

He's working FOR her and Mark Penn. Johnson's ego and wealth have put "a zap on his brain" not unlike a number of millionaire African Americans who have received "sweet whispers" of political assignments during a THIRD Clintonian Executive Branch.

So HRC is serving as the epitomy of loyal crony to the God of political power: Whatever it takes, aye HRC?

32. So Johnson is a mindless
vessel of cells with no will of his own and is owned and operated by the Clintons and their mind-controlling operatives.

It's too bad Hillary can't control what people say, for or against her, but somehow she's supposed to magically zap anybody who says anything negative about "Saint Obama."

If she did have the ability to control things I'm sure she'd like to have some paid consultants of Obamas and Edwards put into a room where they can't hurt anybody. Axelrod is the sleaziest, dorkiest, most lying SOB I've ever seen. His first name should be SMEAR.

Johnson doesn't work for Hillary, he's a supporter but he's not a paid consultant to the Clintons.

Have a little cheese with your whine!

23. John lewis said it best about obama.....
"He is no Martin Luther King Jr. I knew Martin Luther King. I knew Bobby Kennedy. I knew President Kennedy. You need more than speech-making. You need someone who is prepared to provide bold leadership."

And to his adoration of Reagan. Reagan was a damn racist. Racist is as racist does. I care, how Reagan mistreated African American in his personal life and in his budgets. I care that prominent people seem to think that he wasn’t really a racist and maybe obama doesn't wither. What I care about is that Ronald Reagan, the patron saint of the Conservative Movement, made a career out of deliberately appealing to the racist vote. it brought him to power and, as the above shows, it was a constant tool throughout his career. Ronald Reagan acted in public as a racist acts. He deliberately set out to appeal to racists and continue the odious Southern Strategy. In doing so, he helped to mainstream racism in the GOP and thus the country.

But hey I guess you cannot fault Obama for using reagan as an example, just so he could find the word INSPIRATIONAL and use it in hopes of attracting right wing votes.....if it sounds like a republican, and walks like a republican, then most likely is a republican.....Is this the dirty lil' secret obama is hiding?

24. Jasmine, you need to read what LBJ REALLY thought of that bill...
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 12:43 AM by Kristi1696
He commonly referred to it as the "n***** bill". And to MLK as "that n***** preacher".

I hate to print this here and I'm going to edit it as soon as you signal that you've read this, but African Americans who are active in the civil rights movement KNOW that he used these expressions. And I don't see how Hillary herself couldn't be aware of this.

Knowing this, do you see why LBJ might not be a hero in the African American community? And do you see why people would be offended when Clinton brought up LBJ's role and made it sound like his contribution was as important as Dr. King's? LBJ didn't necessarily want to pass that bill, but the work that Dr. King did forced him to do so.

Could you let me know when you've read this so I can edit? Thanks.

29. That's why I used direct quotes...
The author didn't manufacture LBJ's quotes, so his own opinions about them are irrelevant.

You might want to delete those block quotes. Some may find them offensive, and rightfully so.

30. The overwhelming irony just... words fail me

It takes a President to pass good legislation. Reagan was one of the worst Presidents in history. He almost single-handedly dismantled the entire fabric of the nation and handed it over to unregulated pirates to pillage unchecked.

Conjuring up this fake-actor-role-playing con job as some sort of a role model is either the height of naive ignorance or a sign of a mark wearing a "play me" sandwich sign.
