CNN: 89% of Democrats have a favorable view of President Clinton
Wow, I didn't know it was that high. I would have guessed about 85%.

I guess this answers the questions about whether or not he's "hurting" her campaign coming from the concerned members of other campaigns.

6. There are a couple of things that many of us remember Clinton for...
one was his stance on the economy. Thats where his famous sign came from: "Its the Economy Stupid."

The other was that we(ordinary people)did not have to worry about our government. It was being run properly. With Clinton, more were helped that needed help than not.

As for those who are limited to conversations about Bill's sex habits, I suggest that they ask Daddy Bush about Jennifer Fitzgerald. Or Newt about his attitude about the sanctity of marriage and/or blowjobs. Or Dan Burton about his son that he never acknowledged. The list is endless.

Sure Clinton made some bad decisions. People who DO things usually do. For the most part, he did the right thing by most of us. He did these right things at a time when he was under attack by the right wing 24/7 for his 8 years in office. He controlled the Gingrich congress...made them look like the fools they were.

Have you really forgotten Wolfie and Candy and Judy and all the other Dem-haters at CNN?

if you mean Judy Woodruff, she hasn't worked there in years.

4. Remember, DU represents the tiny left wing branch of the party.
If DU had it's way, Obama would win the nomination with 80% of the vote/delegates.
There are more parts to the party than DU. Those parts are much larger.
That's why the race is competitive.

7. Actually, if DU had its way, Edwards would win the nomination.
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 06:31 PM by TwilightZone
In almost all of the recent candidate polls, he's been getting about half of the total votes.

The Obama supporters are a minority, albeit a rather vocal one.

Edit: to clarify - what that really means, of course, is that if DUers who vote in candidate polls have their way, Edwards would win.

9. I would say that Obama would edge Edwards out (sadly).
It would be close, but Obama has them in a trance and he would win.
I would like to see a President Edwards. He is to my left, but he wants to win the war against the right wing.

13. They'd have a lot of ground to make up.

I think that they're growing a bit in number, but at least where the DU polls are concerned, they're still outnumbered by the Edwards supporters more than 3:1. Not that you'd ever know it around here.

5. cnn?
Isn't "Clinton News Network" a phrase originally made up by right wingers to explain how Fox News was fair and balanced and CNN was not??? Are we really using right wing slams on what has been a consistant middle ground news channel? What the hell? Look how low this radically support of these candidates has taken us???

8. Yes, it is good to remember that DU is filled with the fringe of the party
and disruptors who do not want what is best for the Democratic Party..... because from looking around here, I would think Bill's approval rating was lower than Bush's.

but I think quite a few have no first hand knowledge of the difference between the Reagan, Clinton and Bush years. When you lived through it, you damned well know the difference.

23. I have heard little
from President Clinton that seems as outrageous as some people would like to believe; particularly in light of it being a primary season. I've certainly heard much much worse. Some of his statements have been twisted it seems to me. President Clinton has earned the benefit of the doubt from me for a lifetime of achievement on important Democratic issues. At this point I'm content to sit back and support the eventual nominee, but I'd be thrilled to see Bill back in the big chair if it were possible.

22. That's awesome
And higher than I thought it would be, too.

No one is perfectly aligned with my views, and there are some things that Clinton did that I disagreed with, but overall, the 90's were good for me. It seems like so long ago that Bill Clinton had the entire world eating from the palm of his hand. Because of Bush, we're one of the world's most hated nations. How things can change.

25. His favorability doesn't affect whether or not he's hurting her campaign.
That question has to do with how his comments reflect on them, and the overall question of to what degree Hillary is running on her husband's record rather than her own. Not whether Democrats view Bill favorably.

29. The media is cherry picking his statements to stir the pot
And the other campaigns are jumping all over them, hoping she will ask him to step back. They know damn well he's overall beneficial to her campaign.

What he's doing now isn't befitting of what he once was and I think he seems somewhat pathetic.
