Bottomline is this; if you aren't going to read the entire book, or at least the chapter, then as far as I am concerned, you ain't got nothing to say. To pull excerpts here and there from a book without the overal context (that our politics are broken, period), insert dots for what you don't want to reveal only serves those who are looking to grasp at anything...which I now realize is the only goal for some. Obama actually warns about this being one of the tactics and standard operating procedure for those looking to play petty politics. Read this book if you need to, because this man is honest to a fault. But don't do hatchet jobs; it should be beneath us.
had found the President to be a likable man, shrewd and disciplined but with the same straightforward manner that had helped him win two elections, you could easily imagine him owning the local car dealership down the street, coaching little League, and grilling in his backyard--the kind of guy who wuld make for good company so long as the conversatino revolved around sports and the kids" Obama writes. But watching Bush discuss his political agenda, Obama recalled, "it felt as if somebody in a back room had flipped a switchthe president's eyes became fixed; his voice took on the agitated, rapid tone of someone neither accustomed to nor welcoming interruptions, his easy affability was replaced by an almost messianic certainty."
