Did Barack Obama say THIS?
"Her principal opponent said that since 1992, the Republicans have had all the good ideas," Clinton told a crowd in Pahrump this morning. "It goes along with their plan to ask Republicans to become Democrats for a day and caucus with you tomorrow, and then go back and become Republicans so they can participate in the Republican primary. I'm not making this up, folks."

-BILL Clinton

because as far as I can tell, it's the Clinton LIE OF THE DAY.

27. This is what Obama said, Bill.
The full Obama quote that the Clinton campaign has distorted by parsing today:

“I think Kennedy, twenty years earlier, moved the country in a fundamentally different direction. So I think a lot of it just has to do with the times. I think we’re in one of those times right now. Where people feel like things as they are going aren’t working. We’re bogged down in the same arguments that we’ve been having, and they’re not useful. And, you know, the Republican approach, I think, has played itself out. I think it’s fair to say the Republicans were the party of ideas for a pretty long chunk of time there over the last ten, fifteen years, in the sense that they were challenging conventional wisdom. Now, you’ve heard it all before. You look at the economic policies when they’re being debated among the Presidential candidates and it’s all tax cuts. Well, you know, we’ve done that, we tried it.”

5. He said that the Republicans were the party ideas for the last 10-15 years, yes.
And yes, there's a flyer going around telling people how to be Dems for a day. Not connected to Obama's campaign, though, of course.

Though from what I can tell it actually came from Obamas camp. I will try to refrain from posting it again. I got it from a bunch of the guys that I work with in the surveying business. Me and the secretary are the only Democrats in the office, it's a family business, and they are Republican through and through. My boss is a nice man but he can't wait to vote for a McCain - Lieberman ticket. Anyway they have been going on, and on about this whole thing all week. They even put the damn flier in the shop window so everyone who comes in gets to see it. I've been vocal on a few occasions in the past when Bush has done something especially horrible and they laugh it off, they just love the fact that Obama is trying to call on the name of Regan. It's just to perfect, they can't wait to hear someone say "I knew Regan and you Sir are no Regan." I'm sorry if I hurt anyones felling but I am past the point of being pissed and near the point of fucking leaving. I just hope to be able to rub it in their fucking faces for the next 4 years. I know I shouldn't fell that way but it is what it is.

Obama hasn't been in the spot light that long. That's why a long primary season is good. It's a time to get to know the candidates.

20. No. They have lied multiple times today.
Count the lies in this little blurb:

Clinton on the UNITE-HERE ads:

"They’re shameless and offensive. They’re untrue and I would hope that Senator Obama would have the same standards in Nevada that he did in Iowa where he called for the end of 527s and their independent expenditures," she said. "It is way beyond bounds for anyone to make the shameless and offensive claims that are in those ads."

(The ads are, in fact, being aired by a PAC, not a 527.)

She was also driving a pair of messages at her appearance in Elko, and the following press conference. One was that unnamed unions "in the south" of Nevada -- that is, the Culinary Workers -- were telling supporters of candidates other than Obama not to show up at the caucuses. Challenged for evidence of that -- no clear stories of coercion have emerged in the press -- she cited the media and "blog accounts."

She warned that the caucuses could be "discredited" if evidence of coercion emerges. Which, again, it hasn't.

And, finally, she did her best to keep up the line of attack that Obama had praised Republican ideas, which wasn't quite how I read his comments in Reno.

Her spin is that he was praising GOP ideas.

"Does that mean he’s for a government shutdown?" she asked.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton responded, “It’s hard to take Hillary Clinton’s latest attack seriously when she’s the one who supported George Bush’s war in Iraq, the most damaging Republican idea of our generation."

This didn't even include Bill's lie.

22. Distinction without a difference. Clinton was accurate about the spirit of what Obama said
Obama said the Republicans have been the "party of ideas" over the last 10 or 15 years (15 years=the start of Bill Clinton's term). There is a video in the political video forum of Obama saying this.

23. BS! 'Party of Ideas' points to the reality that Repukes have pursued a systematic ideological ...
agenda (of conservatism) and done so EFFECTIVELY, while Democrats have been unanchored and mainly reactive.

OBAMA IS NOT SAYING THAT THE REPUKES HAVE GOOD IDEAS AT ALL.

The difference is VERY obvious

25. Who had more ideas during that time? Us or them?
Obama knows about the Democratic think tanks that exist. He should be giving a royalty check to the Progressive Policy Institute for all of their ideas he lifted.
