I may get slammed for this , but I don't care anymore. I don't know about you, but I am so sick of seeing Ronald Reagan's name plastered all over DU!! Candidates made some comments and I realize people want to use it to rip each other's man/woman one way or another. But can we get over it already?
All this Raygun bullshit is starting to get creepy and brings some bad memories back to me personally. At the time, I used to think it could never get any worse during Raygun's years. I was wrong, and I won't make that mistake again!! I lost maybe the best job I ever had because of Raygun's union busting tactics, so I moved on, but I will NEVER forget. That was also the time when all these whacked out wingnuts started to come out of the closet and become popular and take over the media. Remember Limpballs, Falwell and the Moral Majority? How about Iran-Contra, Savings and Loan bailout, etc., etc.? So many WH crooks got away with so much, it reminds me of the current administration. Doesn't it?
So, if you must, go ahead and continue, but I won't be reading them anymore, not that anybody cares. I just don't think us Dems should be giving him as much attention as he is getting and does not deserve. Well, you can start flaming away, but I would like to know if anybody else feels the same way I do about this situation. I don't believe Raygun deserves our time and above all, he does not deserve ANY praise from ANY Democrat!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reagan_administration_scandalsDuring the presidency of Ronald Reagan in the United States, multiple scandals developed which resulted in a number of administration staffers being convicted. The most well known, the Iran-Contra affair, involved a plan whereby weapons were sold to Iran and the profits diverted to fund the Nicaraguan Contras, in violation of U.S. and international law.
A total of 225 people who served in the Reagan administration either quit, were fired, arrested, indicted, or convicted for either breaking the law or violating the Ethics Code; Edwin Meese alone, the Attorney General, was investigated by three separate Special Prosecutors.
Several other controversies also occurred in the Reagan administration; one involved Department of Housing secretary Samuel Pierce and his associates. Wealthy contributors to the administration's campaign were rewarded with funding for low income housing development without the customary background checks, and lobbyists, such as former Secretary of the Interior James G. Watt, were rewarded with huge lobbying fees for assisting campaign contributors with receiving government loans and guarantees. Six administration staffers were convicted.
Also involving the EPA: funds from the Superfund to clean up toxic waste sites were released to enhance the election prospects of local politicians aligned with the administration.
