Sandbagged again? Looks like the well-oiled Clinton machine
is ready to roll up the NV caucuses tomorrow with ease. And once again the headlines will be "Hillary in Big Upset Win". What a set up!

This caucus has been in the bag for Clinton and the Democratic Establishment the whole time and the MSM pack was played like a fiddle. Upset indeed!

Nevada's full Party machinery from Harry Reid on down is gonna put the hammer down on deluded Kucinich-Edwards-Obama supporters. In their wisdom they have already decided for us who our nominee should be.

Get used to it, folks. The HRC will be ruling the roost tomorrow. Sorry to say it.

Hope springs eternal, I guess, so I sure hope I'm wrong. But this looks like a big set up on caucus eve.

11. Mostly just a feeling in these old politically experienced bones
It just has a feel to it. Along with the 51% pro-HRC in December polls. And the certain knowledge that there has been a long ground campaign in NV (and here in CA) to wrap up the entire state party apparatus for HRC.

As an example, this list is instructive:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/18/202753/916/163/439175

California's is even more impressive and thorough.

18. Don't let that post fool you
Yes the establishment is behind her here and has been since the start but Obama has an incredible ground machine here. I am subscribed to both campaigns but i have not heard from hillary for months. On the other hand I have gotten calls from the Obama camp almost daily. I got three today.

She certainly has the establishment Dem's behind her here and that definitely should not be taken lightly. Obamas organization here though is strong. They are working hard and the crowds have been good. We will find out tomorrow how it shakes out but Hillary has been leading here from the start. Even if we come in a close second we will have defied the odds here.

Ah, okay. Must be fuzzy math.

14. Speaking of caucuses
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 02:36 AM by Emit
At the caucus, the delegates that are nominated are to subsequently attend the County Convention(In Washoe County, NV in Feb) and carry their preference group's chosen candidate's name to the next level. I discovered recently that the delegate is not bound to the preference group's choice of candidate. This came up in a caucus training where we were discussing nominations of precinct delegates and if a group doesn't have enough people who want to be a delegate, then the party chooses a delegate to fill that precinct's delegate position (I think they still have to live in that precinct).

So, a delegate can be nominated from, for example, an Edwards' preference group, but when that delegate gets to the County Caucus, he/she could, in reality, submit a choice for Obama or Hillary or Kucinich.

How the final results compare to the numbers we will see coming out of the caucus results tomorrow may be hard to follow.

15. Gosh. Why the priority isn't to make voting generic, i.e., the same for
every state, is beyond me. It's very tiring, confusing, and defeating our interests ultimately, unless I'm missing something.

17. As a caucus volunteer here in NV, I have talked to so many people who are
dissatisfied that we are doing a caucus instead of a primary election. Folks here are so uncomfortable with the process. I'm actually hoping a lot of the younger voters will pull this off, because so many of the older voters I've talked to aren't ready for this change -- the complaints I've gotten include not wanting to select a candidate in public with neighbors, not comfortable discussing politics with strangers, not having the time to spend two hours (more or less) for the process, etc. One woman I spoke with was very angry and said she felt disenfranchised by the process and not the least bit empowered -- she said they took her opportunity to vote in the primary away. I tried to reason with her about the advantages -- she will not go.

20. Wow. I don't know what to say. I'd be delirious with happiness if
I thought my vote counted, at all. New stuff is strange to a lot of people. But we also know that 'primaries' aren't all they're cracked up to be. She might not know that.

I was going to refer you to this until I read the edited title, but will anyway:

5. Thats why shes going to Missouri Tommorow night
So if she loses, she can say that she knew she was going to, thats why they left. If they win, she will be annointed the comeback girl again, and the campaign will show how pleasantly suprised they are.

9. Bullshit! It's not even begun. Even great *machines* rust.
Nope, people are SICK of the mighty Clintonian DLC smear machine that vacillates between "victim" and "conquerer."

I honestly believe that the American People are begging to wake up and smell the smarmy political insiders.

Obama has done well IN SPITE of the RNC/DLC controlled M$M.

Now, that is hope!

When Obama continues to do well, the shameless pseudo-journalists in the M$M will be FORCED to begrudgingly "go along" lest they lose their audience for other "bread and circuses" to distract and lie to us. It will be difficult but, more than anyone else, I believe that Obama can win.

Regardless, I will continue to work for change even if all I have is that "God hates a quitter."

Go Obama!

May God Bless you and yours. :loveya:

21. Not really... just feeling it's a set up for the "upset" story line
I think you are carelessly misusing the term "sour grapes" which, of course, refers to the Aesop fable whose moral concerned the Fox claiming he didn't really want the grapes he couldn't get because they were probably sour anyway.

In this case the exact opposite is true... I really, really want Nevada for Obama...obviously a prize and nothing sour about it.

So there's that

I'm just looking getting past all the BS spin on NV and onward to SC. Don't give up hope, Obama is rising!

As for tomorrow, I think all take a hike and avoid all the "big win for Clinton" blather.
