Edwards didn't run television ads in Nevada?
What is the rationale behind that? Yet, they are pouring money into South Carolina, a state they have no shot at since Obama is at 68-73% with black voters. What the hell?

Fortunately, since so many states vote on Super Tuesday it is impossible for anyone, even the $200 million candidates to run a full campaign in all Super Tuesday states. If Edwards cherry picks the right states and puts money there he will pick up some wins on Super Tuesday.

-snip-

Edwards, his chances for the presidency diminished by losses to Obama in Iowa and Clinton in New Hampshire, did not run television ads in the state and did not plan to stay in Nevada to wait for results. His schedule Friday had him leaving to campaign in Oklahoma, Missouri and Georgia, among the more than 20 states that vote on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.

2. Probably and TV ads for Super Tuesday
At the time it sounded like good strategy but, depending on what happens today, it may be a mistake in retrospect to pump almost $2 million already in South Carolina for television ads and $0 in Nevada. Edwards could have won Nevada--and may still do so today. He has zero chance of winning South Carolina because Obama is at 68-73% with half the vote thanks to his swiftboating of the Clintons on race.

4. and it was..
hard to gauge how John would (and still will) do in Nev. as, at the time of NH it looked like he was around 20% in SC, then now, it looks like he might be that in Nev instead and 10 in SC! I don't see him winning these (although Nev is hopeful!) two states, but I'm banking all that money will go into ads for super tuesday in his strongest states and he'll visit them over and over.

Hope he can somehow do it. His speech last night was AMAZING...

6. His quick four state campaign swing in Super Tuesday states reflects thuis
He went to California, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Missouri. He has no chance to win California but since it is so huge getting even 15 or 20% of its delegates will be important. Oklahoma is, based in 2007 polling, his best chance to win on Super Tuesday. He lost it by something like 0.2% in 2004 and that was because Clark targeted it on Mini Tuesday while Edwards focused on South Carolina. Missouri is another state where he polled relatively strong in 2007 and got 25 or 26% there in 2004. Both states have a heavy rural component and Edwards is strongest in rural areas. Georgia is a big state. The four biggest states (based on current population, not delegates awarded) in Super Tuesday are California, New York, Illinois, and Georgia. He won't win the first three. He almost won Georgia in 2004. I suppose it is the best place for him to swing for an attempt at a home run. If he wins Georgia and a couple other states it will give him a much bigger bounce than if he won Oklahoma, Missouri and other states like that. Georgia will be tough, though, because of Edwards' racial problem. Even in the Carolinas he is only polling at 6% with black voters. He won't win Georgia unless he can somehow improve that and that looks very unlikely with Obama getting 68-73% of the black vote. Edwards would need a miraculous swing among black voters in two weeks to have a chance at winning Goergia.
