Supporters of the Big Three: What has your candidate said about the economy?
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 09:30 AM by Finnfan
Are any of them talking about recession (or worse)? Do they have proposals to fix it? If so, what are they?

I think that this is the most important issue right now - it's a flaming red emergency, in my mind - and I have not seen much discussion of it here.

So what does your candidate see happening? What are they saying about the state of the economy?

3. Why would you say that?
What is his proposal? Can you at least link to it, instead of being merely snarky?

2. Will Again I will Shameless Plug My Pick

John Edwards released the following statement today on President George Bush's remarks on the economy:

"Now that George Bush has finally joined the call for an economic stimulus package, the time for debate and delay is over. American families cannot wait any longer for swift and decisive action. After years of stagnant wages, the economy may be slipping into a recession and if we don't act now we may make our problems worse.

"The economic damage done by Bush and Cheney is deep and long-lasting, and the temporary tax cuts he proposes will not solve it alone. Making matters worse, his plan provides little or no help to some 50 million low-income and middle class families.

"To help middle class families get ahead over the long haul, we need to invest in a clean energy infrastructure that will create jobs now and pay economic dividends for decades to come. A helping hand to families facing foreclosure, states in the midst of budget crises, and long-term unemployed workers will cushion the blow to struggling families and prevent further economic damage. We must also guarantee universal and affordable health care and reverse the shift of the tax burden from the wealthy onto middle-class workers."

Since John Edwards became the first presidential candidate to propose a specific stimulus package almost a month ago, there are more troubling signs about the economy.

5. I'm sure it's been posted before.
There is concern about the U.S. Government Economy and the US Public’s Economy enforcements. I will enforce the U.S. Government’s Economy and the US Public’s Economy regulating its enforcements itself with its regulations pretaining to itself and according to it’s enforcements to maintain 100% effectiveness with my tools.

10. Obama
http://www.thestar.com/USElection/article/295594

Obama went on the attack early today in Reno, suggesting Clinton has swiped part of her stimulus plan for the economy, to provide tax rebates for workers, from his playbook.

...

Obama’s plan would also provide $10 billion (U.S.) to help homeowners facing foreclosure and $10 billion to cover state budget shortfalls. He also has vowed to go after unscrupulous lenders, who have played a major role in the foreclosure crisis.

...

While most of his and other candidates’ suggestions have been for the middle class, Obama gave a nod to the lower rungs.

He said he would take tax breaks away from companies that ship American jobs overseas. And he would ensure that raise the minimum wage “every year” to keep pace with inflation.

“If you work in this country you should not be poor,” he said, to deafening cheers.
