Are we underestimating Mitt Romney?
True, he won in states where no other Repuke really campaigned, but it was probably a smart move on his part since it grabbed him some much-needed headlines...and in a Repuke field where no one stands out, things like that might just work. He's got the money, no doubt, to go the distance.

1. I think we are.
Someone else posted about his reaction when he heard he won Nevada - he said he was happy with getting the delegates....that this is all about collecting enough delegates. I think that is what he is working on and he may end up pulling it off.

11. I read that Nevada was founded by Mormons, and he was
expected to win there because there are still a lot of Mormons there.

3. Romney has the 2nd largest company in the World

the Mormon church on his side.

but all the money in the world won't convince 75% of the populace who knows the GOP have fielded clowns.

i'm not worried. i'd love to see huck or romney on the ticket.

americans are not that stupid and election fraud cannot rig 100% of the vote.

7. I think it's too early to tell about either party.
It seems tooth and nail among the Dem candidates. I think if they're this nasty to each other so early, it could get really hurtful and damage the entire party by November.

As fo the Rethugs, they seem to be looking for their asses with both hands right now. There is no unified theme on how to handle all the crap their party has allowed to go on for 7 years.

9. I don't. I still think in a general election race McCain would be tougher
because of his demonstrated appeal with indies. I think Romney comes across as a terrible opportnist who will do or say anything to win. How could he change so many opinions within such a short period of time when running for Gov of MA to now being a presidential nominee. He looks and acts like a slick, sleezy used car salesman and people will see that. I honestly think he would even be easier to beat than Huck who is a nut but comes across as likable. Romney doesn't.

10. I was at a restaurant yesterday
listening in on a conversation at the next table--there were about five people at the table. One man was saying how Mit Romney is the only one who can save this country (of course, he didn't say anything about his policies or how he was going to save American)--then, the lady at the table stated that Mitt looked so presidential. No substance, I guess, you need only to look the part.:eyes:

13. There's no explaining how some people choose their vote...
...I suppose all in all in a democracy it balances out, but it can be pretty scary.

12. Yes, but not so much so.
This is a guy who has unlimited cash reserves to fall back on, and I believe that alone will make him competitive no matter whom his opponent is. However, he may the most despised Republican - both in his party, and among indies. Yes, he's leading his side right now, but no where near being the consensus choice, and no where near where he should be given the amount of money he's spent so far.

He is not a likable candidate, and he will not win. I think his best shot is against Hillary, as she has her own "likability" issues. If those two are the nominees, I expect a scorched earth campaign, with Hillary squeaking by - based on the amount of money Mitt will burn, the swift boaters, the voters that will come out specifically to vote against Hillary, and even the voters who will stay home or vote 3rd party, making it closer than it has to be.
