I think Clinton and Obama supporters in the board should make peace
and start celebrating the success of our two candidates. Look, what the 3 contests we've had this month show is that Clinton and Obama are the two faces of the Democratic Party. They are the new powerhouses of our party, LIKE THEM OR NOT. Hillary is not someone I like very much, but it has to be said- she has a very strong chance of being our nominee or VP choice, and same with Obama. In fact, given how strong these two candidates are, it seems to me that either Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton will be the ticket- both individuals are too strong politically speaking not to make use of them.

So, now that John Edwards is, sadly, pretty much out of the contest (sorry for being so blunt), let's just wait and see what happens with our two front-runners. Let them battle it out for what is left of the primary calendar, and let the voters decide. After all, chances are both will be in the ticket. We should stop ATTACKING and SMEARING both of them, regardless of how dirty they get on the freaking campaign trail (this is politics, and that's what it takes to win), and let's wait for the outcome of this.

I'm proud of Barack Obama, and he has shown he will be around for a long time, and so has Hillary. Wishing they go away won't do it- voters are speaking and are pretty much split down the middle when it comes to these two candidates.

2. Are you going to tell us one day soon that you support Hillary?
I just find this really hard to believe that you really mean this. I have read hundreds of your "posts" and I want to believe you, but you have been down right nasty at times. I am sorry, but that is the impression I have of you.

13. Well so am I, believe it or not
but you didn't show much respect for anyone who wasn't an Obama supporter.

That is your right, you can say what you want, but it is my right to have formed an opinion.

But even with that said, I am willing to have normal adult conversations regarding our differences, and I will start new with you today, if you would like.

:toast:

Because in the end its going to take every single one of us to beat that other party into oblivion.

19. We are on the same team, Mass.
I have been a very passionate Obama supporter, and will continue to be, but given how things are playing out, I think Clinton and Obama supporters should tone it down a bit and, in fact, try to envision great things for their two candidates.

This isn't a camp fire sing along, this is the direction of the country for the next 4-8 years.

5. I never forget that I fully intend to support whoever wins the
nomination.

I am very sad that Edwards has not done better. I voted for him in the 2004 primary and I like him very much.

I would love to see him on the Supreme Court. We need someone strong to counteract Scalia, Thomas, and Roberts.

6. And some Obama supporters should think about making
peace with Edwards supporters.

The arrogance regarding the implication Edwards should have dropped out of the race after New Hampshire was very low rent.

that Edwards shouldn't have remained in the race even though 90 percent of the country hadn't voted yet.

14. I think so too
This Clinton/Obama debate is ruining DU and the Democratic party.

We're all fucking Democrats. Why are we fighting with each other?!??!?!?!?!

There is really not too much of a difference between Clinton and Obama as far as voting record and stances on issues. They're almost the same candidate.

16. Hate to tell ya, but Edwards is staying in.
Just because some are willing to accept second best doesn't mean all of us will.

Hillary and Barack represent the status quo.

If you're content with new drapes and carpeting over a rotting, crumbling floor, so be it.

Some of us want something better for America.

23. Andy, Edwards was my second choice until today.
I wish he was doing much better than he's doing now, and in fact I wish he was beating Hillary right now.

But it has to be said: Edwards has lost 3 in a row, and two of them badly. He even lost the only state he was a frontrunner at, by 8%. I know Edwards and his supporters are fighters and won't give up... but it is what it is- Edwards will not make it. I hate to say it, but it seems pretty evident right now.

I like you kats but some of the shit has been unforgivable. Even after the Primary I have a list that is going on permanent Ignore. On that list are the one's who flat out lied, I won't even mention the one yesterday. Not saying all Of Obama's supporters but the one's that fall into the category i just mentioned. There is one other category, the one's that have been shitting on bill Clinton. Fucking disgusting.

24. William, neither Clinton nor Obama embody their supporters.
They are what they are, and it seems like the Democratic electorate around the country likes them both. We should all recognize that fact and make peace. In fact, it's looking more and more likely that Clinton and Obama wind up in the same ticket and, let me tell you, it'll be a great ticket.

35. My observations are this-
Obama supporters like myself(former Green)are drawn to the more radicalised Obama. Obama is not a traditional Democrat, he is not instilled with purely democratic principles. Therefore, you have to understand, he attracts people to him that are like him. Former Republicans, Naderites, Greens, Independants and Undecideds who for one reason or another are unhappy with Democrats. I don't believe there will ever be peacfulness between the two camps because their core principles differ so greatly. I would venture this opinion. If Obama is not the nominee, many here will subvert the democratic party and vote Republican in a move to spite Hillary. I know, I've read the bitter posts threatening voting for a Republican instead of Hillary.

If you are truly sincere in your OP, it would behoove you to discourage the pettiness in our camp and support the Party no matter the nominee. Posting the familiar lipservice some of us have used on our parents when they are at each others throats, just isn't good enough.

25. I'm at peace with people that don't lie about Obama for political conquest at all cost
Here's my pledge:

If I choose to point out obviously horrible, dirty tactics on the part of the Clinton campaign, I will supply my points with links to back up my point. If someone can point to something Obama said and come up with a just reason with the full original quote with a link, I'd be glad to engage in intelligent conversation on the matter.

I won't take Hillary Clinton's words out of context or shave critical parts of her statements to make a cheap point. I expect the Clinton campaign and supporters to do the same.

If we comply by these simple principals, then there will be at least a semblance of mannerly dialogue, which should suffice for "peace".

I look forward to not having to defend ad hominem attacks on Obama based on lies. That would be pretty cool. I am also pretty realistic and know the chance of that happening is the same as Frank Zappa stopping in for dinner and a jam session.

31. I fully agree with the spirit of both your post and the OP
And in that spirit I don't object that the juciest examples you gave of behavior which should be avoided were linked to Clinton or her supporters. Your bottom line and suggested code of conduct is a fair and reasonable one, and it's basic human nature to notice injustices against one's own interests easier than those against anothers. If I tried to make the point you just did there's a good chance my examples would have looked equally one sided to you.

So I agree with your suggestions and thank you for making them. Good luck to all of us in holding true to them, but the effort at least is worth making.

I promoise not to let my Touret's Sundrom kick in in the future!

From what I've personally witnessed here - both the Obama and Hillary people are just making "choices" and are as bewildered as everyone else, and are some of NICEST people I am proud to meet and now KNOW.

I started the day with a Clinton sticker on my shirt, and ended the day with both an Obama AND Hillary sticker on my shirt...

If the repukes and media whores think we are divided, they are grossly mistaken (snicker snicker snicker!!!) and may they remain as clueless as ever - all to their HUGE disappointement for the fucking repuke enablers they are...
