Superdelegate from S.C. endorses Obama
COLUMBIA, S.C. --A Democratic Party superdelegate from South Carolina on Friday endorsed presidential hopeful Barack Obama, saying the Illinois senator appeals to independents and disillusioned Republicans.

Waring Howe, a Charleston attorney, holds a position with the Democratic National Committee that allows him to support anyone at the party's convention, regardless of what happens in the South Carolina primary Jan. 26.

"With him at the top of the ticket, Democrats will have a candidate they can run with, not run from," Howe said of Obama.

Howe also is the Charleston County Democratic Party chairman and a member of the state party's executive committee.

9. Just wondering how that statement is a Republican talking point?

Plenty of us have been touting that statement, and even before the primary battle started. I've talked to plenty of Democrats who support Obama and they feel the same way. Hillary is very divisive and Obama can work with people.

I want a President that can work with people for once.

17. Such simple comments.
Is that the way BHO intends to run his campaign? By throwing cheap shots at his opponent. I'm sorry, he already does that.

12. I believe, they can sign up and change affiliations to vote in the Primary
then after voting, sign a disaffiliation form reverting back to their Republican status. Obama will turn this into another whining Circus of Horrors..

3. "a candidate they can run with, not run from" - Great Quote. Too bad the Clintonites are delusional
The sad reality of Hillary is her devisiveness and HIGH negatives, both of which will drive people to the polls to VOTE AGAINST HER and not necessarily for their candidate.

The Clintonites never let facts get in the way of their rhetoric.

7. That's what I've been saying all along
We want a candidate that appeals to EVERYONE, not just Democrats. Hillary turns off enough voters (including Democrats) and Obama doesn't.

We need someone that can work with other people. The Republicans chose Bush and he appealed to THEM not Democrats, and certainly not to others on the world stage. Obama can do that. In 2004, we chose someone who we thought was the most electable... guess what? He didn't appeal to the disillusioned Republicans or Independents. Obama appeals to them.

If things are a sign of what's coming, I don't know if I want to look forward to a Hillary presidency.

16. Never mind the complaints from discussion board trolls...
many in the real-life Democratic Party are very happy with the prospect of a candidate like Obama, who will make canvassing in October MUCH less painful.

18. That is exactly what I've been speaking to people about
The people I know are longtime Democratic Party supporters and not necessarily members of DU. And I've asked them, if Hillary was the nominee, would you vote for her. And they didn't feel that they could follow their principles and vote for Hillary.

Obama they can vote for quite handily. Hillary, not so much. My partner (who isn't a voter, due to him being British) follows the elections and says the same thing about Obama.
