"The republican party is the party of ideas"
Rape, Steal, and Plunder.

Three fucking ideas in the last decade and a half, and they get credit for being the party of ideas.

Sheesh.

2. You don't have to distort other candidates' words.
Your candidate can win on his own, honest strength.

15. View your own link.
You cherry-picked a phrase out of context, and you even changed the tense of one word. "Absolutely no distortion?" Pffft.

Now you're free to do whatever you want, but please at least have the courtesy to remove the Edwards logo first.

NGU.

16. I am saying that republicans, aren't, won't be, and never were
a party of ideas. They are a party of greed. "Let me get mine, and to hell with everyone else".

The concept of the phrase was bogus, in my opinion. Context doesn't matter. I did not say Obama praised or condemned them. The only applicable context Obama could have added would have been saying "NOT!!!" after it. He didn't, so what he said before and after is immaterial. He could have said they were the best ideas in the world, he could have said they were the shittiest ideas in the world. I reject that they were ideas at all, merely different themes of the same idea, which is screw anyone that isn't like us.

I am saying that statement is, in my view, wrong.

"You even changed the tense of one word".. give me a break. Yeah, I really went over the line.

If you want to defend the republicans as "A party of ideas" then have at it.

5. This is an anti-republican post, not anti-Obama.
I disagree with him that they were the party of ideas because frankly, if it was anything to do with screwing the lower or middle class, or another country out of their resources, then they were entirely predictable as being one of the three things I listed.

7. You have to go three pages back into Google to get close to
the original quote, but here's how the AP played it before all the hoo-haw:

"Obama did praise Republicans, but he criticized them in the same comment: "I think it's fair to say the Republicans were the party of ideas for a pretty long chunk of time there over the last 10, 15 years, in the sense that they were challenging conventional wisdom. Now, you've heard it all before. You look at the economic policies when they're being debated among the presidential candidates and it's all tax cuts. Well, you know, we've done that, we tried it. That's not really going to solve our energy problems, for example. So, some of it's the times."

9. Why? The link of the video was about 4 down on the first page.
But I am not posting to say that Obama said they were good ideas. He didn't.

I am saying that the assertion that they were the party of ideas, good or bad, was wrong. They are driven by a single motivation. Greed. Everything they have done is a different theme of that same overriding idea.

10. What does he think will solve our energy problems?
Giving out billions to nuclear plant developers, with no idea of what to do with the waste?

11. Yeah, Laissez-faire
In the laissez-faire view, the state has no responsibility to engage in intervention to maintain a desired wealth distribution

In other words, "live and let die", AKA - Republicans are selfish ass holes.

12. Bill implemented half their ideas
Block grants to states, ending welfare as we know it, china trade, nafta, privatizing much of government, deregulation, all Republican ideas that Bill Clinton implemented.

They can always be put in one of the categories I listed. Different verbage, same idea.
