Clinton: Obama too liberal

It appears to me that this whole charge re: consistency on single-payer is simply an attempt to paint Obama as too liberal, while appearing to be making comments re: consistency (though that's a loser too, as it's hard to understand how Clinton, who claimed to learn so much regarding how to advocate for health care change in 1993, has obviously changed her own position). Too liberal for whom, I have no idea.

Next up: Obama actually helped poor people, hands-on. Obviously, he's dangerous.

While the senator was vague, her campaign pointed out to ABC News examples of Obama's liberal positions, including his 2004 statement to abolish mandatory minimum sentences for federal crimes. They also pointed out a statement Obama made in 2003 that he was "a proponent of a single payer health care program," which he no longer seems to support today.

1. I thought that was showing inconsistency or something, not "too liberal."
I don't think he's any more liberal than she is.

2. Neither do I. But if you look at the ABC story, they were pushing the single-payer thing
in the context of pointing out liberal positions by Obama.

3. What the Clinton campaign is pointing out is Obama used to be more liberal.
Now he's a guy who courts GOpers in the Dem primaries, speaks highly of Reagan and gives props to the Newt Gingrich GOP while taking shots at the Clintons.

8. But their blasting him for having the same positions as she does?
Assuming they are right (and I don't agree) doesn't her change in health care plans she prefers point to the same tactic - running to the middle? Is this the Rovian "paint the opponent with your own greatest weakness strategy" in full effect?

18. "Running to the middle" will never work for Hillary
The perception about her for a decade+ among Repukes and Indeps is that she is an "establishment liberal", and "panders" to the middle. In other words, she's not real.

5. Sad but true..
Here's how she sees herself - 25% moderate 75% conservative.
Obama is 75% moderate, 25% conservative
Edwards is 25% moderate, 75% liberal.

That's how I see the candidates.

13. Myth being what?
On the health care issue, I still think he's being consistent, notwithstanding the cut-and-splice video on the HRC website. But what's the alleged myth - that's he consistent? Or that he's not a politician? Because if it's the later, then I was right in what I said initially - they want to make people feel that he's been as scheming as she has.

10. Did you happen to notice?
Obama won the rural, more conservative areas of Nevada. I don't think the "liberal" label is quite appropriate. And I don't think your analysis holds water.

17. Aren't Clinton and Obama's senate records basically identical?
She's been there four more years, but give me a break. She's been called "too liberal" by Republicans for over a decade right? Why does she use the other side's attacks on Obama?
