This was one of the greatest heavyweight bouts ever:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7cDq-X_DLEJoe Frazier's trainer stopped the fight before the beginning of the last round and Ali won. Ali said later he was ready to quit too. Frazier's eyes were swollen shut. Ali had hemotomas and bruises all over his body.
-----------------------
Imagine after the fight, which Ali won, Frazier's fans and backers complaining:
"Ooohhh, Ali hit him too hard! That's really going to come back to hurt him! That was uncalled for! Why did Ali feel it necessary to attack Frazier?!! That's the exactly what's going on now with Obama supporters complaining about Hillary after the debate last night.
Good grief, people. This is a presidential campaign. The heavyweight championship of American politics. Politics is a full contact sport and he/she who fights the hardest and the smartest wins. This is not a time for pulling punches. If Hillary slaps Obama around in a debate, he's a big boy, he should be able to take care of himself. He did a pretty darn good job of it too and got in his own good shots.
But unfortunately for Obama, he will continue to cry foul every time he gets beaten to the punch. That only shows Obama appears to lack substance. He and his surrogates have to do better than complain that Obama got hit too hard. He has to quit complaining in general and get in there and fight with solid real ideas, not "present" type explanations.
Obama has been following this
"pity strategy" for quite some time now. If he doesn't stand on his own feet now, he'll not do well on Super Tuesday which is only 2 weeks from today. I hope it's not too late for Obama to turn it around because I love a good fight. I'm not sure he can.
