Hillary just SLAPPED South Carolinians on their face,
instead of Hillary staying in S.C to campaign, she took off
to another state leaving behind Bill and Chelsea, this tells
me that she has no regards for South Carolinians people,
are folks in the other state more descent than the folks in
S.C?

hmmmm......I wonder?

To me thats saying your votes are not important to her,
she can afford to lose S.C and yet move on to win other
states.....IS THIS THE TYPE OF PRESIDENCY THE AMERICAN
PEOPLE WANT
a Presidential candidate snubbing
black votes, do you think she will have you in mind
when she wins?

I don't think so....

What happened yesterday was planned by the Clintons,
they are trying to take the Democratic party down
with them, if they can't have it, no one else would....
thats their strategy.

What say you to this then eh!

:argh:

3. Actually she went to California for this
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 08:35 PM by sunonmars
If I was getting that great big honking endorsement i'd be there.

SALINAS, CALIF. -- Hillary Clinton's west coast trip brought her the national United Farm Workers' Union endorsement, representing 27,000 members, most of which are Hispanic. Mrs. Clinton took the stage to large a large applause and chants of "Si se puede, Si se puede!" or "Yes we can! Yes we can!"

Very clever actually, Hillary is off campaiging in the great big delegate states and will be back while Bill and Chelsea do the ground work for Hillary to arrive in a blaze on Thursday. Its called stealing the thunder.

You might be surprised.

I'm not ruling anything out in SC, if the white voters who have been voting en mass for Clinton so far in the primaries feel that Hillary is getting a raw deal in SC, who knows what might happen.

69. Good point.
And I think Hillary is doing the right thing. Barack would probably do the same. He is going to have to give up on campaigning in a few of the Super Tuesday states - he simply won't have enough time. Does that mean he is ignoring the state? No, he's just being practical - something I definitely want in my future President.

52. It is important, but the
Clinton's are doing their best to destroy what could be the Democratic
party best chance in sweeping the Senate and Congress.

It could have a huge effect on us, and I would hate to see
something we at DU have struggle for since 04....well before
04, and all that work that Gov Dean has put in to go to waste based on
scoring cheap political points....which does us no favor.

I'm blaming the Clintons because they started this, immediately
after the Iowa victory, frankly, I don't think Hillary has
anything to offer low income people excerpt those in her
inner circle.

Thats my take.

I would love to see all our candidates talking about
their policies, what <they> can do to improve the
economy, improve Americas image and the war in Iraq.

Thats the kind of debate I would like to see, not
former President who is suppose to be an elder
Statesman scoring cheap political points and in the
process destroying the Democratic party.

By the way, I don't think any of these guys
expect the voters to hand to them,
I do know JE and BO are in touch with the voters
you can tell by their policies, but its sad to
say Hillary does not have a message, hence her
playing the only card she knows.

23. I was wondering about this...
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 08:45 PM by Bread and Circus
Someone earlier had posted schedules of the different candidates for the day and what I noticed is that Obama is working in SC while Clinton moved her engagements to another state.

This is obvious because Clinton knows she is going to lose there now and is putting her political eggs in another basket.

I can see there's some "strategy" here in the way certain politicians will bypass certain states in the primaries. However, what strikes me is how she "gives up" on SC once it starts to not go her way.

First, if I was from SC I think I'd feel a little ripped off right now. She courted their voted but since it wasn't handed to her she told them she had better things to do than shake their hands anymore (the day after MLK day, no less). Secondly, to me this strikes at the heart of what's wrong with Clinton, and that is she seems overwhelmingly guided by political expendiency. She seems to have no center and seems to go with the prevailing winds.

This is an allegory of what the Democratic party at large has become and that is a body which seems to move without a spine.

It no longer stands up to anything because it doesn't stand for something.

At this point, I'm convinced that women mainly will hand her the nomination. I guess it's their due.

However, please don't be surprised by her hard turn to the right when we get to GE time. I don't think you will recognize her then as you may know her now.

And I'm sorry but the Clinton camp has started the race and "record" squabbles. It's been their strategy to goad Obama into taking the low road. He was damned if he took it, damned if he didn't. This is common in politics as the "high road" candidacies are what people say they want but it's just too easy to demagogue that kind of a candidate and force them to low road when they try to defend themselves.

Some say this is "hardball" politics, and maybe it is...

But alas, it's what DU folks have been railing against for 8 years until now. So I guess there's a lot of people here that just don't really want justice, they just want their pound of flesh.

31. DU is starting to act as if the nation is divided up into different gang turfs
With candidates accused of "dissing" the peopole who live in this or that "neighborhood" by not showing them enough proper "respect".

We have a lovely self correcting system folks, it's called voting. We don't have to worry about which candidate is or is not showing enough "respect" to people in a certain primary state. If not enough voters feel respected some place a candidate will lose in that place. That is the penelty. That is the "fine". And if a candidate loses too many primaries that candidate will not become our nominee. End of game.

By the type of thinking of this OP the Democratic Party has been slapping the people of the entire south in the face for several Presidential election cycles and the Republican have been slapping the people of the North East in the face for at least as long. By the type of thinking of this OP, every Presidential candidate must allocate their time equally among all 50 states every time that they run for President or they are maliciously slapping people in the face.

ps-are you aware that there are 49 other states besides South Carolina and that they are interested in seeing the candidates too?

I for one don't consider it a slap in the face that she spent time in South Carolina. You shouldn't feel it's a slap in the face if she spends time in California or wherever.

47. not conceding
She just left the first black president there to campaign and make sure there isn't a second black president.

She knows they just don't much like her, Bill will do better without her.

I can tell you this, if the Clintons keep it up there are not going to be any other serious contenders of color for a long time.

Nice legacy for the Clintons.

58. OMG!!! Hillary is just like Hitler!
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 01:41 AM by smalll
Just like Hitler! Why, his Nazi Party campaigned back in '33, '32 and beforehand in lots of places - like Bavaria, Saxony, Thuringia, Silesia, Hannover, Prussia, East Prussia, the Saar, etc. etc. -- but NEVER in South Carolina!!!

hmmmm.....??? It's all clear now: Hillary = Hitler. Thanks to the OP for opening our eyes to this veritable electoral Hillocaust going on right now.

(surely, I don't need this...

63. Hillary will be here in New Jersey tomorrow night.
She will be at a rally sponsored by a latino group. All are invited and I'm excited to finally have her come to the state. I'll be signing in people and had to give my social security # to the campaign because of Secret Service clearance requirements.

Can't wait to see her, I have my camera at the ready!!!!!!

68. Oh yes.....I'm reminded that her pollster made sure to remind everyone
that Hispanics don't vote for Black People. Such a treasure, that woman!

I see a common bond, but I'm sure that's just me.

Hispanics are deeply religious
African American are deeply religious

Hispanics are socially conservative
African Americans are sociall conservative (although less so)

Hispanics are oftentime discriminated against
African Americans are oftentime discriminated against

Hispanics have had to fight for their justice in history (Chavez)
African Americans have had to fight for their justice (MLK)

Both groups have higher portion of youth population in jail compared to Whites.

Both groups with lower per household income, oftentime in depressed neighborhoods.

Both groups tend to live in extended family situations

Both groups receive Affirmative Action of sort in various areas.

fuck SC. I'd move on too. She doesn't need them to win. At least she's not pandering to them...and promising things she can't do, like Obama....

77. Why don't Obama and Edwards care about Michigan?
South Carolina doesn't even matter. It's a red state, will be a red state and is rather pointless in the grand scheme of things.

78. Obama slapped Nevadans in the face
when he left the state without thanking his voters and supporters.

Clinton is simply making some other campaign stops. It's strategy and your phony outrage is noted.:silly:
