You got rid of a candidate that is a foreign relations expert, a candidate that is an expert on the
economy, and a candidate that was a foreign diplomat and a governor------ All grownups, all proven records, all earned the respect of both parties and foreign leaders.

Your candidate better not blow it.
KO was just talking about how Kennedy slammed Carter so badly during the primaries - that Carter never recovered, and Reagan won.

1. Reagan won because of the Iran hostage crisis.
Polls showed that had Carter brought the hostages home by Election Day 1980, he would've won.

He didn't, thanks in part to Poppy Bush appealing to the Iranians not to release the hostages until after the election.

2. Because most Americans don't know anything that hasn't been on TV in the
past two weeks, and since last year, the mass media have acted as if there are only two candidates in the race.

3. But.. I also heard there was a HUGE sigh of relief on capitol hill that Biden was back
on the Foreign Relations Committee. No real appeasement for me, but still, we know he's there looking out for us.

I agree about not blowing it. All adults, save for JE, seem to have left the building.

5. Are you referring to the article in Politico?
Ha - they were saying he will be sought after by the next administration (assuming it's a Dem).

4. Don't forget that John Anderson ran that year, also.
He was the spoiler before being the spoiler was popular!

7. One quality of a SUPERIOR candidate, whosoever he or she may be,
would be the ability to pick an OUTSTANDING cabinet.

It's always good to have a very firm grasp on the issues, it's even better to have people on your team who also have that grasp to the tenth power, and who know how to watch your back.
