The Thunder is Sounding! Barack Obama's Coming Huge Landslide in South Carolina!
There's going to be an earthquake on Saturday.

History will be made in the Deep South. And all Americans can take pride in it.

For a very decent and good man, of white and black parents, will be the victor in the Democratic Primary in South Carolina. And it will be a landslide.

Here in my 5th decade of my life, I have not felt so goddamned proud in a very, very long time.

I can hear a great rumble clear out here in California from the East Coast.

And it's the rumble of hope!

And it sounds so good!

What a proud day for America!

3. Didn't Jesse win SC back in the 1980's
I will admit it wasn't the landslide Obama is likely to have but I do think Jesse deserves props.

8. "History of the South Carolina Primary"
"In these years, Democrats were holding a South Carolina caucus instead of a primary. Intended or not, this fact denied Jesse Jackson likely primary victories in 1984 and 1988. Reverend Jackson was South Carolina caucus winner in 1988."

12. I don't know, Alexander.
But I must confess that I've found myself becoming very emotionally attached to this very decent man. I know that the odds are really stacked against him, but his hopeful message has won my heart.

No matter what happens, Saturday will be Obama's.

I hope that all Americans can take pride in that victory.

23. not enough time between SC and the Super Tuesday States
to have any slight momentum he may get make a difference. He's fully expected to win SC due in large part to it's strong African-American community, so a win for him will be met with a collective "of course!"

He only leads in three of the twenty-two States voting on February 5th (including his home State of Illinois) and those leads are within the margin of error except for Illinois which he leads by double digits.

Hillary leads by comfortable if not overwhelming margins everywhere else including the delegate-rich States of CA, NY, NJ and MO.

Granted some of the States don't poll as often as others, but this is based on the info currently available.

A great site for info on Primaries and Polls can be found here:

and there were many problems last Saturday.

Not to rain on the parade, honest, but better to be forewarned.

My SC election integrity estimate with info on SC elections, systems, demographics and pretty maps:

11. The Clinton's want him to win in SC
Then they will try to turn the race into more of a race issue by somehow saying that black people voted for him and make white people vote for her.

16. I think you're totally right.
Hillary won't do it herself, but she's very aware the media will do the job for her, and she's only too glad to reap the benefits.

chapter of a fascinating contest. I do not think any democratic primary has had this much intensity since 1968. There have been parts of other primaries that were interesting, but this stands out.

I think that older DUers recognize that there is the potential for advancing democracy in 2008, but that there are risks involved in some of the campaign tactics. If Senator Obama wins by a large margin on Saturday, the next nine days will be intense.

(* edited for spelling -- too little sleep recently!)

34. BS.
I resent you calling me racist. But, I expect no less from you.

Obama and his surrogotes have played the race card well. Clintons cannot mention MLK without being called racist. Obama, and Michelle, and Lowery, and other surrogtes tell the black community that there is something wrong with them if they do not support the black candidate--just because he is black--and you suggest that I am racist, because the black community in SC agrees.

Why do you think that Obama started this race war? Because he wanted to cement the black community against the Clintons. And it worked. That is racism.

You have gone to far to call me racist.

24. I agree
94,000 indies sat out the GOP SC primary. comapared to 2000... AA support for Obama could be as high as 70% and that community is definitely fired up... They could be 70% in a very large turnout.

29. never misunderestimate the American electorate....
Dude, calm down this is SC!

It will most likely be close because (face it) racism is DEFINITELY an issue in SC (the Bradley effect is not going to show-up in the polls with the white voters)...

I fully expect Obama to win SC, just not by double digits... Think something like:

Obama 41
Clinton 35
Edwards 20

The delegates will once again be VERY close...
