"Obama does not need the popular vote to win, it's about delegates."
Does anyone else find this offensive to the very idea of Democracy? I guarantee you that if there is a convention where the "popular vote winner" has "less delegates" and it's very close to the wire, there will be some seriously insane controversey rivaling that of Election 2000.

The Democratic Party better damn well hope the party member they're sending in has the most votes, both via delegates and the popular majority.

1. No one ever brings up the fact that if Kerry had won Ohio...
....he would have won the way Bush did (or appeared to do) in 2000. With the electoral votes, not popular votes, propelling him into the White House.

3. It's all about winning, isn't it? It's not about each vote counts equally.
That's all it's about. Fuck that. The Democratic Party better hope there's a clear majority winner, because a vote controversey will last for weeks (as I don't see Obama or Clinton stepping down), and the party will come down in shambles.

5. Well, then why have the state-by-state primaries at all?
If it comes to that on Super Tuesday, I guarantee in 4 years that's what'll happen.

We'll just have the convention and a return to the smoky backroom kingmaking.

7. Why not distribute delegates equitably rather than how they are now?
It's a kind of gerrymandering at its finest.

2. Nothing in the U.S. is democratic
Our entire election system is not really fair, from the general elections to the primaries. But the rules are the rules. If Bush can win the presidency from the same rules, then Obama could win the nomination from those rules. It's not fair, but nothing is fair in America anymore.

A disabled vet comes home from the war and has no limbs, but gets denied for SS benefits. There's a lot of things that are unfair that need changing in this country.

4. Oh it's not fair but rules are rules.
Erm, I break rules, I change rules, I don't cede to them so willingly. And I doubt many people on either side of the table would just let the "rules" be the way things work, either.

6. Very unfair..the Vets and Soldiers get the shaft and
those that sent them to war and won't take care of them afterwards should be thrown out in disgrace.

funds..rules have nothing to do with it.

10. I just want the popular votes to reflect the delegate count, that's all I ask for.
Generally this is what happens.

11. Aren't you like 8 years too late complaining about the popular vote?
Fuck, Bush has been president for 8 years cause of the undemocratic electoral college. John Kerry could've easily became president if he had just won Ohio. It's not fair, I know. I want it changed, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

12. 8 years too late? No. I'm seeing a potential for a devastating process.
If there is no majority winner going in to Dever the Democrats will lose, by default. I promise you that. A party divided and all.
