LA times now questioning about Rezko

Like it or not, this story is spreading fast.

Longtime patron may be a problem for Obama

Alleged slumlord and indicted businessman Antoin 'Tony' Rezko has long supported the Democratic presidential hopeful, who has returned related donations.............

But a government watchdog group that once lauded Obama for leadership on ethics says the Illinois senator should have known better.

"Everybody in this town knew that Tony Rezko was headed for trouble," said Jay Stewart of the Better Government Assn. in Chicago. "When he got indicted, there wasn't a single insider who was surprised. It was viewed as a long time coming. . . . Why would you be having anything to do with Tony Rezko, particularly if you're planning to run for president?"
But in 1998, then-state Sen. Obama wrote to state and city officials urging them to provide funding for New Kenwood LLC, a company formed by Rezko and Allison Davis. Obama wrote the letters, first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, on Illinois Senate stationery, saying: "This project will provide much needed housing for 4th Ward citizens.".......................

The "slumlord" reference is backed up in part by a 2007 Chicago Sun-Times investigation that found that Rezko's low- income housing empire was collapsing, leaving many black families living in squalid conditions, sometimes without heat.

When Obama first sought public office in 1995, Rezko provided $2,000 in donations. Five years later, when Obama unsuccessfully challenged Democrat Bobby L. Rush for his U.S. House seat, Rezko and his associates contributed a much-needed infusion of cash in the final weeks of the campaign.................

Some who were part of Rezko's world remain Obama backers.

Kelly King Dibble was a Rezko company executive, and became Blagojevich's director of the Illinois Housing Development Authority until her resignation a year ago. She co-hosted a fundraiser in November at Chicago's South Shore Country Club for Obama.

Dibble -- who said her friendship with the candidate's wife, Michelle, goes back years -- said that whatever Rezko may have done, he was always decent to her: "I don't know him to be a crook. I know him to be a nice man." Nor does she believe he was, as Clinton said, a "slumlord," though she noted that it is hard to maintain low-income housing.

"It is sad that it has sunk to this level," she said.

Either way, he is either totally incompetent or in the pocket, Everyone seems to have known this guy was dirty and Obama has been taking money from him for many many years. Make you own minds up

1. Obama's house, is a very, very, very fine house
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 06:03 AM by VarnettaTuckpocket
That cost $300,000 less than it's market value, and has an expanded yard thanks to Rezko's purchase of the lot next door.

3. Aren't you afraid to post something negative...
And just remember before that person bought the 1.5 million dollar home, he declared that he was broke. One year broke and not even a year later able to buy a 1.5 million dollar house. Amazing.

6. My major problem with Obama is.......
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 06:42 AM by sunonmars
that he is trying to pass himself off as some messiah figure to many when he's just as much of a political hack as anyone. I can take politicians, we know what they are ruthless bastards but i can't stand people who say they are something when clearly they are not.

I'd have more respect for him if he could be honest about stuff but i get the feeling after years of chicago politics, he's a just a good liar.

Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 06:36 AM by adabfree
I'd say they have a much longer lists of misdeeds, snuggling
up with the criminal minded and criminals...some even say
Hillary is a witch with mega powers, she can bully, lie,
squirm, sneak around, be a closet muncher (while playing the
victim)and do it all while slithering, begging, groveling and
crawlng on her belly...

Now that takes talent...and that is where the real
investigation shouuld be..lol

Gosh, her and bill make me barf...and I voted for him 2x.

Wont' make that mistake with his ice queen...I go to the other
side first.

lol...it's early...ha ha

Try finding some true facts on which to base your opinion. You would be doing youself a huge favor.

9. When CNN fact checked the Obama/Rezko statement at the debate ....
they, evidently, did not have the totality of information that the LA times appears to have access to. CNN tried to minimize the connection, emphasizing, apparently the only connection was merely the lot next door that has been sold.

Perhaps the LA Times needs to share true information with CNN, pretending that this would quell some of the blatant CNN bias towards Obama.

And, ironically, in that same stellar fact-checking segment, CNN tried to indicate that Obama speaking about Hillary working on the board of Wal-Mart was 100% truthful, that she was there, case closed. This, of course, was an insult to the mind of most democrats, that know full well Hillary was on the board, and it was an insult to the mind of most democrats that CNN totally ignored the real hate Obama was trying to spread regarding the shipping of jobs overseas while Hillary was on the board.

CNN has proven the stance they will take during the primaries. "CNN fact checking" will remain an oxymoron. Anything Obama says or does will be uncriticized. And watch out democrats during the general election. CNN very well could take the side of the republicans and pull these same tricks they now prototype with acumen.

16. Do you have the power?
Okay, thought not.

AGAIN, poor Hillary...can't catch a break because the white
dominated, male power structure at CNN has it in for the white
woman, so they let the black man slide...

lol

12. I've heard from friends that Rezko is being talked about in California,

People are asking, who is this guy, why did Hillary mention him. Looks like Obama got some explaining to do.
