My fear in '08
We, as democrats always like to push the envelope. Unfortunately, I think Obama and Hilary are popular mostly because of race and gender. Neither of them have anymore experience than Edwards. Edwards can't seem to catch on because he doesn't fall into either category and is just another white guy. Even though if anyone ever fought the corporations it was Edwards as a trial lawyer. I, for one really like Edwards as I think he is our best bet to win in the general election. I think we will pick either Obama or Hilary and we will end up losing. I hope I am wrong.

1. I'm done with that FEAR shit. Done.
A fucking Ham Sandwich heading the Deomcratic ticket, running with A Side Of Chips, could beat ANY REPUBLICAN on the ballot.

That's how fed up America is.

7. I agree.
If there was ever a slam dunk election for the democratic party it's 2008. All this wailing and worrying over an automatic win.

2. let's see
Obama - eight years as elected representative in Illinois, three years in U.S. senate = 11 years of public service.
Clinton - Seven years as U.S. senator = 7 years of public service.
Edwards - Six years as U.S. senator = 6 years of public service.

I'd say your claim that he has as much experience as them is flawed.

3. being an elected leader in a state house
is quite different than being on center stage. I think Edwards is closest to being normal. What I mean by that is he had a full career as a lawyer. I, for one don't think Hilary had a normal career. I'm not sure about Obama

4. I don't think being a lawyer is normal
but that's just based off of my experience with lawyers, who are some of the weirdest people I've ever met.

8. I work with lawyers all the time
I used to sell dictation equipment to lawyers and they are a pain in the ass. really big egos and cheap, however they usually are very smart. However almoat all people running for office have really big egos especially the ones running for president.

6. you have no fears of another stolen election?
Having Hillery or Obama will give them the opportunity to do it again, while saying America wasnt ready for either a woman or a black.

If it goes this way, and there is a good chance, we will have only ourselves to blame for not demanding a legitimate & verifiable voting system.

Most people I knew were sick of the pukes in 2000 for impeaching BC rather than do the work of the country.

I am too old and discouraged, I am hoping for change but I wont be surprised if its more of the same no matter who gets the keys to the WH.

I hope I am wrong!

10. I sure do
they've gotten away with it two times in a row. No way they are not going to try it now. What I fear most is that our candidate will pull a Kerry and not contest questionable election outcomes. I applaud Kucinich for demanding a NH recount. That's the only way to put them on notice that we mean business.

11. actually i know quite a bit
I was a political science minor in college and know the candidates enough to make decisions. Obama is trying to straddle the line. That is why he did the Reagan comment. It is a general election strategy. He wants to come across as above the fray and a visionary.. Hilary wouldn't even be a contender if her name was Hilary Smith. The only reason she has any credibility is because of Bill. I have been watching and been involved in politics since '68. I marched on Washington in Oct '69 and my first vote was for McGovern. I am the last of the people who had to be 21 to vote. It is my observation that by and large the republicans do not fear Hilary or Obama and that is why the Weekly Standard loves Obama. If you don't think race is a key issue then you are naive. Their fear is Edwards. He would throw the South into the fray and that is the worst case scenario for the republicans

14. I agree with you
But trying to convince others, well it isn't easy! Everyone wants to be able to say the voted for the "first" black man, or the "first" woman president. Sadly, like you, I think their only claim to fame will be that they voted for the "first" woman or black "nominee", and that will be it. It's a lot different than taking back the whitehouse!
