Is Bill Clinton Getting in Obama's Head?
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/01/is-bill-clinton.html

January 22, 2008 6:13 PM

ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: It should have been an easy question for Sen. Barack Obama: “Are you allowing President Clinton to get in your head?”

Yet, it took Obama three tries to answer the question, in what turned into a testy exchange with the New York Times' Jeff Zeleny following a campaign event in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

"I am trying to make sure that his statements by him are answered. Don't you think that's important?" Obama shot back, while walking away.

When Zeleny yelled a follow up question suggesting the Illinois senator had not answered the question, Obama fired back angrily, "Don't try cheap stunts like that."

Obama then walked away and shook hands with the mass of voters that surrounded him.

A few minutes later, Obama came back and confronted Zeleny again.

"I will answer your question though off the record, would you like to talk off the record?" Obama asked. Zeleny refused to go off the record and then motioned toward the gaggle of TV cameras gathered around him.

Obama then returned to his supporters and began shaking more hands before returning a third time to the group of reporters.

"My suspicion is that the other side must be rattled if they’re continuing saying false things about us," Obama finally responded, ignoring follow up questions as he left the room.

How could he do that with a smile on his face? Did you watch the video? That ABC correspondent is talking up his ass.

18. Yes, I think it helps to make a comparison
It's not "flinging poo" to bring up a fact, imo. When a candidate can't defend him or her self without others thinking it is a meltdown, then it needs to be pointed out.

referring to Hillary's getting choked up as "fake tears" is a fact, there's no point attempting to discuss this with you.

Do we want a candidate who fights back against lies and distortions, or did we learn nothing with Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry?

11. "Obama Meltdown"
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 10:37 AM by Maribelle
Not his first. Will not be his last.

I have to say that I called this meltdown happening. Senator Barack Obama and his campaign have accomplished the ridiculous. Senator Obama responded poorly to a debate question on Monday night and got whooped by Senator Hillary Clinton — no big deal.

But his campaign decided they could hit back at Clinton. They have turned this into the absurd that has taken on its own life and only gets worse. Yesterday Senator Obama referred to Clinton as “Bush-Cheney Lite.” I don’t think this attack rings true to anyone — not Democrats and not Republicans.

The Bush-Cheney comment also hurts Senator Obama not only because it is off the mark, but also he has chosen to campaign on hope. He could have chosen to make a point without mentioning Clinton. This faux pas will hurt any momentum he has gained

When he whipped out that sword and decapitated her, and then feasted on her entrails?

13. The Clintons are using classic bullying tactics. I've seen them used in junior high,
in high school and in the work place. I haven't seen anyone yet come up with a good response to bullying unless there is a recourse to outside authorities. For the press to participate in this instead of calling it what it is is despicable. I'm sure there are partisans who will applaud the Clintons and respond by calling for the "waaambulance" or claiming this proves Obama isn't tough enough. Aren't these the classic responses of those who approve of and enable bullies?

is Mr. Happy Hope getting annoyed at the normal heat of a primary campaign?

How's he going to handle a GE?

Hillary is throwing lobs compared to what the GOP will do to him.

29. The only melt downs and/or hysteria and/or desperate acts I've seen
throughout this primary season concern candidate supporters at places like DU. The candidates are all holding up extremely well, given the intense pressure, non stop attention and lack of sleep that they all have to endure.

38. I hate that we are wounding our own -
but I guess it's good practice for what to expect in the general election. Our nominee will come out stronger for it in the end. I'm sure this is just sparring compared to what the Republicans will throw at us.
