1. Study what Rendell is doing to jam casinos into Philly
and you'll found out why his endorsement is worthless.

2. First of all what do you mean by "jam casinos?"
Second, whatever you meant, you provided no link to substantiate it. That might have helped me understand what you're talking about.

3. As in force casinos into residential neighborhoods.
Jamming them in there... sorry, bad choice of word.

He is forcing Philly to place one of the casinos (Sugarhouse) on a historical site, and the other (Foxwoods) less than 1000 ft from residential houses and right next to a huge big-box mall that makes traffic on that street (delaware ave) standstill most of the day.

Here's a link to all the people pissed off about that:
http://www.casinofreephila.org/

He also is the main force that is pushing for the Pennsylvania Convention Center expansion, that is destroying 2 historical buildings.. one is the old Philadelphia Life Insurance Co. bldg and the other is a beautiful old firehouse that has fireman gargoyles on it.

here's a link to all the people that are pissed off about that: http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/center-city/48777-fast-eddie-rendell-gives-state-historical-commission-finger.html

5. Sounds like it could be very economically beneficial to the city.
Maybe a lot of religious types don't want casinos close to them. Not living there I really can't judge, but I suspect many people in the state like the idea of fresh revenue pouring in.

9. You don't live in Philly. You have no idea what you're talking about.
With all due respect, of course.

13. I just stated I don't know.
But I have lived in communities where casinos were introduced. The massive amount of revenue, including benefits to schools and public works through taxes, has generally been perceived as a benefit. There are always those who quake in terror of evil gambling and related "vices", in their minds anyway, but they're not in the majority.

12. they aren't real casinos.. they're slot parlors
and there's about 100 other places they can place them that would be much nicer and MUCH farther away from houses. According to the anti-casino website, the plan for the Sugarhouse casino will place it less than 100 feet from residences in an up-and-coming artist community that does not want their property values to be in the gutter like the houses next to the Atlantic City casinos became.

In addition to that, the Sugarhouse site is the former site of a british fort from the revolutionary war that has never been excavated.

19. I live in the Philly area, and the characterization is correct.
There are a lot of folks for whom Rendell's endorsement of Clinton will hurt her. He was much loved at one time but lots of people are pretty upset with him now.

Sorry, no link...it's just what I gather from daily news and conversation over the past couple years.

8. You forget that Rendell is a former Philly mayor
which means EXTREMELY open to corruption, as is the tradition for all Philly mayors.

except for his smoking ban. It's killed a couple of nice places already.

18. My Guess ? Secretary of Commerce goes to "=Fast Eddie"
A guy that insinuates himself on to CENTER stage as to whom the Eagles should DRAFT in 1999, and inflames fans to boo McNabb on draft day,1999, by numerous appearances on the Angelo Cataldi Show on WIP....well, he's just a numb-nuts, carpetbagger from BROOKLYN via Univ. of Pa.

22. That's a big deal.
Especially in the eastern part of the state. Any news on Dan Onorato's endorsement, if any? If the PA Dem establishment is behind her, that's tough for the other candidates.
