EDIT: Because no discussion on this board can seemingly exist without charges of racism being thrown around, I am purging my own page.

1. Hillary's time on WalMart....
did not break any laws. Going from broke to owning a million dollar house in 1 year is questionable.

43. I smell mob on Rezko. I smell Rico in Fitz's up coming
trial. I smell mob in Chicago politics. Now, I may be wrong but thats where I think mob is going to enter into this race and I think it stinks. Fitz's case seems to be a RICO case to me. What bothers me is the old saying birds of a feather.

I am NOT saying I'm correct. Just what I feel is coming down the pike.

Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 11:17 AM by sunonmars
met him in law school, his wife and rezko's wife were friends for years, his wife associated with Rezko's employees. Barack asked him for help getting a house, Barack wrote letters supporting his projects, Barack did lawyer work for him. Barack took money for campaign contributions when he was desperate. Rezko's associates kept providing money. Barack gave a senate internship to one of Rezko's friends when he was asked to.

You get my drift.

I think thats a pretty good proof of a relationship. Would'nt you. it doesnt pass the smell test.

33. And I have seen sleazy corporate types that look like they are just going
for a walk down the street if it weren't for the reporters. They still have that "I'm so damn slick" sleazy look to them. If you want to call me a racist, go right ahead and say it. Stop with this ridiculous stuff. The guy is wearing what is obviously a multi-thousand dollar suit and has cold, lifeless eyes, like I see all the time when I watch CNBC. These financier types are all the same. Look at Mitt Romney. Nothing particularly strange about anything he does on a daily basis, but is a total sleazeball and looks like one too.

From what I've heard of Rezko, you'd have to be an idiot to not have your
Sleaze Meter peg out.

Is Barack really that naive?

Barack has known the guy for a very, very long time.

Their wives are friends.

There's that real estate deal that is beginning to stink. Just how DID Barack buy his home for $300,000 under market value when the real estate market was still good at the time?

If Barack is as clean as he wants everyone to believe he is, why did he not stay far, far away from this man? It certainly makes me question Barack's judgement.

19. So, are you suggesting that somone put a horse head in the bed
of the original owners, or what? "Market value" is a very nebulous term. There were two offers in on the house; Obama's was higher, the owners wanted to sell so they accepted the offer. I believe it is standard negotiating practice to offer less than the seller asks when making a bid on a property.

As for the strip of land he bought :

To preserve the aesthetic balance, Obama also wanted to put some space between his house and the proposed fence, so he personally asked Tony Rezko if they would sell a portion of their lot without restricting their ability to build in the future.

"I told them if you can spare another 5 or 10 feet, I'd be happy to purchase it from you," Obama said. "They came back and said they could sell us up to 10 feet."

Using a standard formula, Obama's appraiser estimated the 1,500-square-foot portion at a market value of $40,500.

But Obama felt it would be fair to pay the Rezkos $104,500, or a sixth of their original $625,000 purchase price, because he was acquiring a sixth of their land. The sale closed in January 2006.

I guess we'll all see when his trial starts next month. Patrick Fitzgerald normally doesn't mess around trying to prosecute innocent victims, from what I've seen.

And I think him trying to deny any kind of a close relationship with Rezko, is going to hurt him big time when it all comes out. My fear is that he wins the nomination, then the repugs bring it all out, and that will sink him big time!

you are posting a picture of a middle-eastern guy in a suit and saying "he looks sleazy." Making character judgements of minorities based on their appearance--and having that judgement correspond to stereotypes--will look icky, no matter your intent.
