Poll question: On A Scale Of 1-10, How Enthusiastic Will Your Support Of Hillary Be If She's The Nominee
With 10 being as enthusiastic as humanly possible.

and

With 1 being, yeah, I'll vote for her, but that's it.

29. On Monday I was home watching House Hunters International
One woman bought a brand new condo in Punta Cana for $125k. She looked at 3 before buying- one was $60k (also brand new) and another was $114k.

Another man bought a condo in Buenos Aeries (sp?) for $250k. The place was stunning.

Seems like moving out of America you get A LOT more bang for your buck. I guess once the economy really goes in to the shitter and we elect either a rethug or republican light, it might be time to roll out.

As far as I'm concerned, even "Yeah, I'll vote for her, but that's it" is optimistic.

4. I don't think this kind of poll should be on DU
It's defeatist thinking.

Everyone's emotions are high now because of the primaries.

But when the general comes around and we start comparing our candidate to the Repub, hopefully we at DU won't repeat the mistake so many so-called liberals made in 2000.

To be honest, I haven't heard any negative comments about Obama, Hillary, or Edwards that are any worse than the comments I heard about Gore at that time.

In the aftermath of the 2000 election, many DUers were still defending their vote for Nader. Hope that kind of thing doesn't happen again.

23. I totally agree
Dems who wont vote for the Dem nominee wil put us right back in 2000 (a la Nader) we will have another 4 years of Repugs, and plenty of material for DU, and have no to blame but Dems.

If this happens again, Im going to Canada, it's only an hour away. This is OUR election to lose, and by the looks of the answers here, if Hillary gets the nod, people still wont vote for the Dems. Crikey. Amazing. As much as you may dislike her, she's a million times better than ANY rethug, like McCain or Romney, for crissake. But go right ahead and make your beds.

28. this is just to gage enthusiasm
I think, since i put up polls on all three, it gives us a good snapshot of how we feel about each candidate. And I made sure that I included that everyone would be voting for them as the least enthusiastic option.

You can't ask anyone to do any less than just simply vote, even if they have to hold their nose while they do it.

If Hillary cleans up her campaign I will vote for her. But if she is dead set on her slash-and-burn approach to get to the White House, a behavior which is unbefitting the Democratic nominee, I will not. That is my choice. It is disrespectful to insinuate that somebody is a Republican for those reasons.

A negative score means you will work against her. You are demanding the right to voice an intent to work against a Democrat in the general election.

Never did I say that I would "work for" a Republican or that I would "work against" a Democrat. A vote for an independent candidate does not suggest either of those scenarios.

I didn't say you would "work for" a Republican; simply work against a Democrat. A negative number would be working against a Democrat. Perhaps you meant to say something else, but you shouldn't get angry at me simply because you misspoke.

You said that voting independent would be "working against" Democrats and would be "working for" Republicans. That is not factual and a gross exaggeration of the truth.

Voting Independent is a neutral stance, at its worst.

sending a message with her vote, which is exactly what we all do with ours. I don't like the FR reference here--not liking or supporting a particular Dem candidate does NOT mean you belong at FR.

24. How else would you interpret a "negative" score? A score of zero means
no support. A positive score means working for the candidate. A negative score means working against the candidate. The poster was demanding an "I will work against the Democrat" option, which I think has no place on DU.

50. "What, no negative numbers?" While independents are welcome on this board, they are only
welcome to the extent that they work and vote for Democrats. This board explicitly prohibits use of its bandwidth to work against Democrats. You are not suggesting merely abstaining; you are demanding the right to use DU to work against Democrats.

I have not suggested that anyone else vote Independent. I have not even stated that I absolutely would. I am not "working against Democrats". Provide a direct quote where I said that I would "work against Democrats"

84. I'll jump in and say I heard this argument many times
in 2000.

Those people who voted for an independent or who refused to vote at all helped put Bush in the White House.

But I don't think I've ever heard anyone who voted for Nader or who didn't vote at all take any responsibility for the consequences of their vote.

If the consequences weren't so serious, it would be funny how Hillary is criticized for the exact same things Gore was criticized for.

I would hazard a guess that if Obama and Hillary's poll numbers were reversed, a certain percentage of people would be saying the same things about Obama that they are now saying about Hillary.

In other words, for some people, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, FDR, and John Kennedy would all be too "something" to vote for.

34. So it's OK to state that you won't vote for her, but out of bounds to
say you'd consider voting for someone else? Sorry, I don't see that as "working against the candidate". Now, if this poster were to try to convince others on this forum to vote for a third party, THAT would be working against the candidate and the party. I see one individual considering her future vote, and being honest--not trying to whip up anti-Dem sentiment. I don't think she crossed the line, and certainly didn't need the insult of FR thrown at her.

That I said Id give HRC a 10 in support but Obama a 0? Of course Id vote for him, but not joyfully. But this poll is a mistake to have on here where all in freeperville can roll on the carpet seeing how we are ripping each other up, miserable with our candidates, wont even VOTE for Democratic candidates, whomever the nominee turns out to be.

So those who refuse to vote for Hillary, who are you gonna vote for? No one? Repugs? Write ins that have no shot? That will lead to another Repug prez. Right back where we started in 2000, then you'll have plenty of material for another 4 years of bitching.

Obama ain't ym first choice, but I'll hold my nose and vote for him to prevent another Repug presidency.

I figure there are more than 9 months to go before the election.

I hope we will all support the Democratic ticket in the fall.

A chance to vote for the first woman President in 232 years.

A chance to vote for healthcare coverage for all Americans.

Hillary is a very smart person and a tough politician.

She would probably be better than the first President Clinton.

43. Voted 1 but not even sure of that
I DO NOT trust her to get the US out of Iraq or to not attack Iran.

I wish she would just take her chair at AIPAC or AEI.

68. Hillary = Obama - McClurkin + Universal Health Care + Tax Cuts for the Wealthy - "Tort Reform."
That adds up t no real difference. I prefer corporate Democrats over corporate Republicans but that is the only "change" either Obama or Hillary offers.

71. You need one more choice
for those of us who will NOT vote for her and will sit out the election. Try a 0.

74. I had considered volunteering if she was nominated...
With the things that have happened recently, I have changed my mind and I'll be volunteering for a Senate campaign instead.

81. The poll sample is highly biased.
Left wing latte sippers are a small part of the party.

82. What makes you think that people who won't vote for Hillary sip latte?
I, for one, prefer very strong French Roast.
