Clinton Campaign Spins Fighting with Obama, Says it is Edwards' Fault
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 02:13 PM by jsamuel
The former first lady's allies say the longer Edwards stays in the race, the more problems his candidacy will cause the party down the road.

One senior adviser to the Clinton campaign said Edwards was "angry" because the primary race isn't turning out the way he had hoped. Now, Edwards just wants to make life miserable for everyone else.

Some think Edwards is playing the role of a spoiler, prolonging the day of reckoning between Clinton and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, the Democratic front-runners. They fear the longer the Clinton-Obama battle goes on, the harder it will be to heal the inevitable wounds in the Democratic Party. It's time for Edwards to drop out of the race, they say.

"Some say" this, "some say" that...

Clinton wants Edwards out. She didn't like his success at the debate I am sure. So, according to Clinton advisers, it is Edwards fault that Clinton and Obama are fighting. Imagine that...

25. Bill Clinton just quoted Edwards on national news in an extremely positive light.
I think the OP is just another Obama hit piece.

3. All the more reason for Edwards to remain in the race.
He's influencing the direction of the campaigns, and I think that's good.

4. Hardly a surprise.
She knows that Edwards outshone her in the debate on the ground she claims as hers alone: competency and "being the grownup". And she also knows that he divides the white vote in southern states on 2/5. Of course she wants him out.

17. "being the grownup" That is her act to a tee.
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 02:10 PM by JackORoses
She reminds me of the kid in a group who thinks they are more 'Adult' then the rest and thus deserve more privileges somehow. Like she is in on all the adult conversations, and the rest of us are just stupid kids.

She tries to take over debates and bully moderators.
She butts in on others' questions with laughing, etc.
She repeatedly attempts to speak for everyone on stage, saying we want this or that.

I despised this type of personality as a child,
and I still do today.

Why don't you give it a rest, Hillary?
You are not the 'grownup'.
In fact, your win-at-all-cost tactics of lying and misrepresenting your opponents is downright childish.

9. That doesn't really make any sense. Edwards dropping out isn't going to change the tone...
between Barack and Hillary.

Curious...where does it say that Hillary blames Edwards for the Hillary/Barack spat?

I am always skeptical of anything that starts with any variation of "Some people say...."

The more I see of the TWO anointed FRONT runners the LESS I LIKE!!

11. So?
Why is it wrong for a candidate to legally seek the best advantage? Did you notice it would help Edwards if Clinton dropped out? And Obama? SO?

I love the federal crime of not liking defeat. Would you?

But the insult to Edwards is appalling. He's staying in the race for SPITE???? Because his loathing of Hillary is greater than his love of America or his family?

Only Obama escapes your withering contempt?

13. Edwards is taking the white vote from Hillary
or so the Clinton camp thinks. At least in the south. Too bad for Hillary. Earn the vote or shut up.

And if it turns out southern white Dems won't vote for Obama, but white Dems in the rest of the country will, then southern Dems need to take another look in the mirror. Present company excepted.

19. Well someone is smoking something over in the Clinton Camp... LOL
Did it go something like this?

"We(Hillary & Obama) really came off looking bad bickering with one another, and now we made Edwards look good. Hey!... Let's blame it all on Edwards! Yeah, that's that ticket!"

24. That's an ugly undemocratic attack
I called Edwards and angry candidate, but I think he's angry at systemic problems and my opinions has to do with general political style. He is not my favorite candidate, but if anyone wants a "day of reckoning, I would suggest that is where anger lies.
Those crying spoiler are afraid to listen. "Third party" candidates do more than spoil races. They contribute to the dialoge. As has Kuccinich- to the extent that he has been allowed.
With Edwards in the race voters are being pushed to listen to more points of view. He may eventually have to release delegates. At least he will have been heard.
