NPR FACTCHECK: the truth and Edwards at the SC debate
Checking Facts from the Democratic Debate in S.C.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18316965

No transcript available. Heard this yesterday.

When Edwards pointed out that he could beat McCain head to head according to the last CNN poll he was "literally telling the truth" said Brooks Jackson, director of Annenberg Political Fact Check but "you have to pay close attention to the words"

See the problem with what Edwards said was that the last CNN poll with his name included was in December since then the CNN polls have shown.....

:wow:

Brooks Jackson seemed to think that was quite a slam dunk.

Um WHY ISN'T EDWARDS NAME IN EVERY POLL? was clearly the logical next question. It was never asked.

FACT CHECK!!!! :eyes:

3. I noticed that too....
Now tell me the media hasn't crowned our 'candidate'. Frankly, I am tempted to lie to every pollster because they make up the stories and polls the way they want anyway.

5. It's blatant, all right. Has been all along. But if there's any truth...
to the report that a shitload of people watched the last debate, we may start witnessing some momentum, finally, on Edwards part.

I still think the average person (I know I use that "average person" phrase a lot...I never mean it condescendingly at all) knows they're being manipulated but tends to throw their hands up, assuming they don't have an option.

They've been fed Clinton/Obama for months and months now. Maybe they'll realize that John isn't there to act as a moderator for the other two. He's a legitimate candidate. Maybe they'll take back some of their power and vote for who they like as a candidate the most. The last two focus groups after the debates said it was John.

:)
